Are You Thankful to be alive?

A couple of months ago I wasn't. Was on a depression phase with suicidal ideation. Fortunately, I've gotten a lil' better since then so, today I am...mostly because I'm hopeful, I regained my sense of hope, not completely but enough to hold on to.

Or, you could thank the LORD who created the knowledge of/study of Physics and Biology and who created the animals, the laws of Physics, etc. that even make these scientific areas a part of our reality.

Now that statement should spice up the thread.

My philosophy is believe if you choose to and don't if you don't. To each his own. But, don't step all over my beliefs and intelligence by assuming that I'm thanking GOD for giving me life b/c I'm too dumb or nieve to come up w/ something and/or someone better to thank. Give me a break kid.
 
I must be thankful... I send my Mother a nice hand-written thank you card every May. ;)

But really, I like being alive... I find the whole thing so very interesting. Never a dull moment, you know?

And sex is not my chief pleasure in life... though orgasms and everything that leads up to them are definitely in the top five. I'd say my chief pleasure in life is visual beauty... sunsets, jewels, flowers, art, fashion, people... and of course the hot guys that lead up to orgasms. :D
 
Yes, I am thankful for so many things and my life, when compared to much of the world, is almost perfect. I was in the Army in Vietnam during the early 1970s. If you haven't been to a war torn country, if you haven't seen the suffering, then you don't know how good our lives are even on the crappiest day. I am thankful I have clean sheets, a hot shower, enough food and all the creature comforts we take for granted. Life is good!

Anyone that cannot understand or follow the scientific method, which already obsoleted philosophy centuries ago is too dumb in my opinion. Philosophy is opinion and made up beliefs or fairy tales, just like religion. Science is based on unbiased provable facts.

If the above statement is your display of knowledge and logical reasoning, I'm glad I'm not as advanced as you pretend to be. I'd never win a case. Most adults reach a certain age of maturity and have enough self confidence to refrain from bolstering their claims w/ senseless name calling. And most adults are able to accept that other individuals will have a different opinion than them. You'll outgrow this attitude eventually. We all do.
 
As usual, Andrew posts a hit and run topic and everyone rushes in to turn it into a contentious argument about the existence of deities.

I thank my wonderful parents for my being here. If they never had sex.... Then there are my grandparents, their parents, and so forth back to whenever.

Whether they believed in a supernatural panoply of the divine or not, it is through their existence that I'm here, and for them to have lived their harsh lives in the distant past as farmers wouldn't have been an easy living, since I have a relatively easy life myself.

Primary source of pleasure? That would be telling.
