Then you're not your fathers child!

Ok, not necessarily, but changes are high. While it is possible for two brown eyed people to produce a blue eyed child, it's uncommon. Why? The color blue is recessive, while the color brown is dominant. If you have brown eyes, you may also have the gene for blue eyes, but the brown eyes allele dominates and thus making your eyes brown. If you have blue eyes, you must have two blue alleles, thus making it impossible to give your child a brown allele. However, this is not the whole story and other influences also act on determining the color of the eyes, but in most cases it works like this.

I know, fascinating! They say 1 out of 10 people have a different father than they think is their father. Are you your father's child?

Yes my eyes are blue, but my parents now both rest in peace. I know that was not the response you sought. Curious as to why this post and thread?

we covered this in third grade life sciences. My cousin (god bless him) is married to this total bitch of a woman. she got preggy and she is extremely abusive to my cousin.

Long story short, I don't really see him very often because I can't stand her but when they came to a family get together my heart sunk deep, kid has the brownest eyes i've ever seen. Both my cousin and his wife have blue eyes.

Poor cousin. I always wondered what I'd say in such a situation. Would you bring up the fact that him having brown eyes is almost impossible? Difficult situation.

Not really, no. Even more so because your eyes are blue, and not brown.

The post about 'what color are your eyes?' inspired me to start this topic. I don't know why exactly, it just popped into my head when reading the other topic.

Dad's eyes are blue. Mom's eyes are brown. Three kids. The first two of us have blue eyes. And, when my younger sis was coming along, Mom said that if the baby's eyes weren't brown, we were getting a dog!

Her eyes were brown, and, we got a dog, anyway! \:/

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz ;)

Dad - Anglo/German. Mom - all German.

^^^^it means your parents were carriers for the recessive trait. Your chance of having blue eyes were 25%, lucky you :)

I know several people in that situation. In most cases they don't look like their dad, but like their daddy's dad. Just like Prince Harry, in fact.

Thanks for the science lecture, Bill Nye.

My dad has almost blue/ green eyes and my mom has brown eyes.

I have brown eyes and my siblings have brown eyes and green eyes.

But there's always colored contacts.... :/

What about those, few, people that have two different colored eyes?

I once knew a girl that had one green eye, and one (golden) brown eye. ..|

She hated it! I thought she was hypnotic/fascinating!! (!w!)

This only works with brown-eyed kids who have two blue-eyed "parents."

If that is the case, chances are there has been some skanky-panky going on.

But the reverse is not true. Brown eyed parents can have blue eyed kids and it doesn't tell you anything.

Sorry, I thought you asked if my brown-eye was blue!

I found an article online about the decreasing incidence of blue eyes among Americans. Check it out in my blog:

Blue eyes here, same as my brother. My mom had green and my father brown. One grand parent had blue eyes!

After I was born and until they died

Both of my parents were blue.

Not sure about their eyes though.

I have brown eyes. My dad has blue eyes and my mom has brown eyes. I'm fairly dark skinned but thanks to my dad I have the potential to have blue eyed, red haired children :D

both of my parents have brown eyes. all 3 of my brothers have brown eyes. I was the only blond haired, blue eyed one in the bunch. There's no doubt I'm my fathers child. Other than eye/hair color I look just like the man. In fact our voices are pretty close too. Would confuse people when they called the house.

My son has blue eyes. His mother has dark brown. There's no doubt I'm his father. He's my clone. I've never seen a kid look so much like his father. poor guy. I didn't do him any favors.

What, at 14 mos he looks, acts and dresses just like DAD?

Short, Half Bald, Fat, Whiney Crybaby, in Diapers and

Hitting the Bottle all the time???

Sorry Georgia, j/k but couldn't resist:badgrin:

I have brown eyes but I think my parents have brown as well...But brother has blue eyes.

I have blue eyes...My brother has blue eyes. My father has blue eyes. My mother has blue eyes.

The only browned eyed thing in our family is the dog.

And I'm pretty sure I'm my father's son, given some of the old pictures we've seen, the facial similarities are pretty striking.
