The Las Vegas Entertainment District is undergoing a Major expansion with plans to extend Area 15, new residential apartment/townhouse units, office space, retail outlet space, and a new hotel and nightclub. My friend Mike Luttges, aka "German in Venice (GiV)", paid a visit to Las Vegas earlier this year. Mike and I have a lot in common - I'm old and fat, and Mike is old and fat.

Las Vegas is a popular destination for Halloween activities and GiV (Mike) agrees with me that the Area 15 future expansion could give the Las Vegas Strip real competition for tourist visits.

Indeed. It looks like Blackpool on steroids.

Casinos are not drawing in the crowds they once did. The future for Las Vegas will depend on non-gaming entertainment.
No matter the venue, the price of admission will continue to go up. Area 15 ain't cheap, and Omega Mart is crazy!

I've traveled from Kansas to LV 3 times over the over about a 20 year period...but not in the last 15 years. I didn't go for the gambling, I went to the sites to see and to do a few things. Sure I gambled in the machine a little, but it wasn't a thrill for me. I haven't watched the Area 15 video yet, but I've saved the link to view it.

If I drive it about a 16 hour drive. But if i wanna fly, it's a 4 hour drive to the Denver airport (DIA) and then about an hour flight across the mountain range on to LV.

Las Vegas runs on non-resident money, but once the city becomes a theme park, the only people not amused are the actual residents.

Omega Mart seems interesting, but I hear it is not mobility scooter friendly.

I'm not finding reviews concerning mobility/accessibility experiences at Meow Wolf art installations - and that's not a good sign in my opinion.

What I have read is there are "secret" passageways that are smaller. A scooter, wheelchair or large walker would be hard to fit. Most things would be doable though. Maybe even every room, you just wouldn't be able to go the cool ways.

I went to Omega Mart shortly after it opened! I loved it. You know it's really "mega art," right?
i don't think it's mobility-friendly...getting behind the cooler doors or up the stairs might not be easy.
But there's more to Area 15. And the other installations are probably more accessible.
Meow Wolf has just opened a new installation in Houston!
