Hi guys, can any one help. Have downloaded ares, a p2p bit torrent, the new version, onto my desktop which is vista home premium. Ares will not connect. Have zone alarm firewall, have allowed access, but nothing happens. The ares screen keeps saying connecting and that is as far as I get. I used to use Ares on my laptop ( xp pro ) and it ran fine. Can anyone enlighten me?

Many thanks, David.

Hey its 2345 here and I have to go to bed, not being rude or anything but I will read replies ( if any ) in the morning.
Thanks guys

Elegant solution. Reinstall XP. Forget Vista.

HA Sheep, along the way, sell your ride and buy an ox too:D:D:D
Vista is cool in every other way, Honest. It's just that certain things wont.....

outgoing - port number to * (any port)

incoming - *(any port) to port number

I am more of a mac user anyway, but I would pick Vista over XP any day. My friends lap top crashes every so often whenever he plays video games because vista takes too much damn memmory. Sure it looks pretty, but you lose function and preformance. Not to mention they child proofed the whole damn thing. I love getting theses messages: "Are you sure you want to open your my computer folder?" "Are you really sure, there is scary stuff in there?" "You could accidently delete a needed program, you better think it over again."

obviously you have never really used it so stop talking out your ass mate

as for the problem it is probably a port forwarding issus as said before definatly not unique to vista it is an issue with all os which have a firewall of some description
if you are using a router you will need to open up ports to

or you can try a differant torrent program iam using azureus at the moment on vista and it works fine ..|

AJ you are a star. azureus is much better than ares, and it works fine on vista. Ok, I admit I dont use IE, Firefox is the man. But vista is cool. looks good, and works fine.

Many thanks Aj for that, and Sheep, I love you, but you are still using slates and pointy sticks to write with! ( will be admonished in a pm later no doubt) you mac man you....
