Army Fired 11 Soldiers in Jan. As Openly Gay

"I know several servicemen, who have said that a select few of their straight peers know that they're gay and they don't care one bit."

Oh yeah...Fort Jackson is here in my state. I've messed around with a (Bi-closeted) Lieutenant in the past. A couple of semi-retired Military guys work off-base in my department say a few of the Commanding Officers know some of the soldiers are Gay...

They said that an "outed" Gay soldier would really have to do something over-the-top to be brought up on charges..But for the most part the soldiers sexual orientation is overlooked...I'm sure that's not the case @ most Military bases..

Well let's see -- since 1994, there have been 11,694 service men and women kicked out of the military for being gay. That's a lot of guys going "over the top", and not from a foxhole...

And of course these numbers only count the ones that the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network was able to find out about. The actual number would be higher.

Don't Ask Don't Tell really is double edged fuckwittery of the highest order. It's stupid enough that your already stretched to breaking point services are throwing away thousands of willing and able people for being gay, but how many willing and able (but gay) people have not even bothered to sign up in the first place because of the policy?
