Say you had the opportunity to take an around the world trip. Where would you go? Where would you avoid? And what would you do there?

Here are the rules:

1) You have to go around the world - one direction. No backtracking!

2) You have up to four weeks to do this. And don't forget to calculate travel time into your plans!

3) You can make up to 6 stops, but must do at least 3.

4) In any one continent or continental area (say Oceania/South Pacific) you may take no more than 2 stops.

5) You can make trips in your own country/continent of origin.

6) Hawaii counts as North America. Azores as Europe. The middle East is a separate region from either Europe or Africa. And Asia is split into North Asia and South Asia.

7) You MUST include at least one week in New Zealand.

Not that I mind, I would absolutely LOVE to, but why MUST we?

Don't really feel like taking the time to plan this all out right now, but I know I would go to Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Amsterdam, Poland, and Hawaii.

OK, you have two weeks, and you don't have to include New Zealand. I had that in there because I am basing it off of a real world situation. But it is not imperative.

You're going to need more then a week to get something out of New Zealand. Took me 18 months to scour the islands.

1) Malaysia. It’s my fathers homeland so I would want to look at my families line.
2) Up to Thailand just to take pictures and wander around some.
3) Russia because it looks nice and I think my favorite porn star is from there so I want to see it in person.!oops!
4) Over to Egypt because I have always wanted to go. This would be nowhere near enough time for me though.
5) Then to Ireland for the same reasons as Egypt.
6) New York City just to see some Broadway shows.

Ultimately I could spend a month in all of these places and not get all of the pictures I would want. Egypt and Ireland I could probably live there for a year and still not see all that I would want. NYC could be a two day trip depending on show schedules. I’m not really interested in the city itself, just the shows and a couple of other places

This is too much work for me to think out right now btu I know for certain that I would like to visit Bora Bora and would like to avoid the bottom tip of Afirca.

You're either a Travel Agent or dealing with one at the moment? :) You didn't mention if we have to use OneWorld or Star Alliance carriers, what's our maximum mileage and can you stop and transit Asia on the same trip?? (!);):D

Melbourne/Rio de Janeiro/New York/London (surface) Rome/Hong Kong/Singapore/Melbourne

6 stops? Round the world? OK, then (packs his bags) off we go....

(flying from west to east)

1. Hong Kong. I've always wanted to get the atmosphere of the place. I would take a boat trip round Victoria Harbour and marvel at the two giant skyscrapers they've built recently. Also, I'd purchase some good arts and crafts in the flea markets.

2. Japan. It would be so interesting to sample the contrast between hi-tech, modern Tokyo, with all the latest robotic machines, and then spend some time relaxing in the countryside with all the local customs and traditions. It would be fascinating.

3. New Zealand. Not just because Paradigm said so - I've always wanted to see the stars of the Southern Hemisphere, on a clear, dark night. The Southern Cross, the Magellanic Clouds, Centaurus, the Milky Way in Sagittarius/Scorpius - what a sight it would be.

4. Easter Island. I read a book a decade or so back, and I think it would be such an evocative place to visit. The ends of the earth - so remote.

5. California. It's the place in the U.S. that most interests me. There are so many neighbourhoods to Los Angeles on the map - I'd like to meet people from every one. I'd have a look at the rich and famous lifestyles in Hollywood as well. And then, on to San Francisco - all those gays! The opposite of home! Now that would be great fun!

6. The Caribbean. The ultimate exotic destination. I would try to avoid the tourist traps, and find a remote beach all to myself. White sands. Cool breeze. I'd get bored pretty fast though - then I'd explore inland as well.

And, after all that, I'm back home. Phew! Great holiday!

How did I do, Paradigm?

Im too lazy to make up a story :P LOL but I would love to go to London,Califronia, and Cyprus :D

Even worse - Skyteam! I guess there is no maximum mileage (very good) and you can make connections in Asia, but no layovers beyond 24 hours. I have to be in New Zealand, but I have the opportunity to do it as a RTW trip. I was originally thinking of spending a week and a half in Australia, but if I can stop in several cities, then...

My biggest problem is getting enough time off from work.
