Art is in the eye of the beholder

Two fun-loving Scottish students took a pineapple to the 'Look Again' exhibit at an art gallery in a Scottish university. They set the pineapple on an empty display table.

They returned a few days later and found this:

Confusing article.

. . . the piece of fruit to the Look Again exhibition at the Robert Gordon University gallery (in Scotland), and left it sitting on top of a glass case.

When they came back four days later, they found that staff had moved it into a display case…

I don't see a glass case in the first picture.

Anyway, I'm lost. Maybe it's one of those 'you had to be there' funnies?

And I just looked at the article to see if there was any mention of fruit fly control.

It just looks odd in the case, and the case hides the painted shapes.
