I've been hanging out here a long time enjoying everything that all the members have shared. I thought I would put some stuff out there myself. I hope it's entertaining.

I noticed that samdub had a Gloomy Bear avatar. Gloomy Bear is a pet bear that you want to love and hug...but you know how bears are. My sister gave me a stuffed one, he has red eyes and black claws. I think they should give these to children as a valuable life lesson. Mori Chack is the creator and his web page is http://www.chax.net

I have recently picked up photography as a hobby. A photographer I really like is Jack Pierson. I love his book, 'All of a sudden." His photos seem like flashes of memory. His collages look like SoCal eye candy. He also takes some pictures of some cute boys.http://www.artnet.com/artist/13509/jack-pierson.html

That's it for today, but this is how I plan on doing it. I'll try to add pictures, but I'm not sure how.
Thanks!

One of my favorite things to do is eat some space brownies and then go to Disneyland and ride Space Mountain. I dreamed of it as a child, but didn't get to go until I was an adult. It used to have a 60's future vibe which was starting to look quant. After a 7 year absence, last year I got to ride the new improved version. It was all I dreamed it to be, though I miss the weird computer grid display at the start. Now you can experience the mysteries of space at home. from boingboinghttp://www.spacestation77.com/video.html
I am a NPR junkie. The station in Dallas is great. One of the best shows is This American Life. It introduced David Sederes and is always interseting.www.thislife.org Check out "81 Words" which is a radio documentary on the American Psychiatric decision to declassify homosexuality as a disease. Sarah Vowell in "what is this thing?" tells a short history of June and Johnny Cash and the Ring of Fire. Better than the movie.

Now This American Life has a TV show. Not up to par with some of their better radio shows, but better than most everything on TV. I don't have Showtime, but the first show is available on line. Hopefully for every episode.
I gotta go make falafel before my friends get here for Lost. I know it's so tired and over, but tonight I'm sure they will reveal that Jack is gay.

It was a stormy time in Texas, so I caught up on some movies. The dreariness set the mood for Children of Men. Let me get it out of the way, Clive Owen is friggin beautiful, and he really held the emotional tone of the movie. It takes place 20 years in a future where a child hasn't been born in 18 years. Britain is the only civilized country left, but because of immigration fears, it is on the brink of civil war. An immigrant girl becomes pregnent and Clive must get her to safety. I thought it brought up questions about national/personal identity and political groups using hope as a control device versus the hope that keeps you human.
Since that was a bit of a bummer, that evening a friend and I went to see Meet the Robinsonsin3D. The story was very sweet; orphan, boy genious, wants a family, goes to the future, fights the baddies....
The 3D was really cool. No blur, bright, and no headache. Art design was beautiful, a child's idea of 60's Tomarrowland. Not quite as adult friendly as Pixar, but thankfully no pop culture references.
The last movie was Curse of the Golden Flowerstarring Gong LI. I think Meryl Streep and her need to have an act off. She's always mesmerizing. The cinemetagraphy gave me an eyegasm. It takes place @950 A.D in the Forbidden Palace in China. The Royal family makes most dysfunctual families look like the Bradys. Incest, deciete, poison, murder, flying ninjas, secrets revealed, all while wearing elaborite head gear, truelly awesome.
I was shown a great blog for finding new music. The Hype Machine It lists songs on various music blogs with links. It's like the videoblogs we all love. You can also sign up to do the beta. I think it's slightly more legal than file sharing groups, and you don't get the whole album.
I'm working on some graphics to jazz this up. I like sharing cool stuff I find. This is the first time I've had a blog and I probably don't have the tone yet, so I hope you will check back.

Today an important change in the Digital Rights Management debacle. EMI and iTunes announced new versions of iTunes downloads that don't have DRM and are higher quality, plus they won't be dependent on iTunes.
Of course this comes with a premium fee, but it's just the start. If I buy something, I should be abe to use it how I would like. I've bought some media in 4 formats. Apple was smart in taking the lead for the major players.
Keeping with the music theme, I wanted share one of my favorites. Lhasa de Sela is a canadian singer. Her song's are in English, Spanish, and French, but her emotive quality makes the words almost unneccesary. Her voice aches with longing and passion, and there aren't any over the top vocalizations. It's great for stormy days or when I'm down. The Wikipedia article says she was in a circus too.Cool.http://www.sendereando.com

I am sadly pessimistic about the future. Everywhere you look, something has fallen apart, people are ignoring the problems, and the people we need to trust are usually lying; and I'm sure I have it better than most. These articles in New Scientist.com give me hope that alot of people are actually trying to make it better. I hope we make it, because some of this is cool.

I have no idea how many times I have heard the song "It's Raining Men"by the Weather Girls, who were at the time called the politicly incorrect Two Tons of Fun. The first hundred times I was in high school and it was slightly scandalous fun with a sense of lusty joy for men. Since then I have come to loathe it, as well as the squeals and hand flinging that go with it. I don't want to be mean, because I know people who love it, but I have heard this at clubs, in restaurants, at the supermarket, in the doctor's office, on the radio, in stores, etc. I really did not want to hear it again, until now

Thanks to T-zero's help, I added a couple of pics to the posts below.

I thought this was beautiful. It's our neighbor, Barred Spiral Galaxy NGC 1672 aka Barb. I can spend time at the Hubble site and it's a great place for wallpapers. I see things like this and can not imagine that a God that created that cares who I sleep with. http://www.spacetelescope.org/

Your life could be much more crappyhttp://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30200-1259120,00.html

A new study on US views of homosexuality by the Third Way Culture Project gives hope for the future for us in the US. Polls and studies are always skewed, but this doesn't seem too far off from my experience. I think there is a lot more apathy that blankets even pro-gay hets. Things won't change without work, and they do offer suggestions for addressing these problems. With all the creative glbts out there, why isn't youtube and the internet being used. I mean for our rights and not just porn?http://www.huffingtonpost.com/geoffrey-r-stone/sexual-orientation-the-t_b_45092.html

For about 5 years in my early 20's I listened to the Smiths everyday. This song reminds me of being a young gay guy, getting ready to go out, feeling all those dramatic emotions. I still love this song. Emo boys, this was before you were born!

This video is from a band from New Zealand called the Pheonix Foundation and it is mesmerizing. The driving makes F&F Tokyo Drift look like a driver's ed film. Very cool, I'm going to check their others vids out now.

Jim Caviezel, Ted Neely, Eugene Levy, Bela Legosi, Robert Powell, William Defoe, Ken. I think Ted Neely Jesus is hot.
The Discovery Channel's The Jesus Family Tomb disappeared from public consciencnous faster then you can say,"Demon, be gone."I
have been interested in early christian studies since leaving the faith as a way of resolving in myself the good important parts of the teachings. Plus there is a lot of drama in christian history. I have been amazed at what the scholars know compared to my high school sunday school teacher. It seems even the earliest christians had various interpretations of Christs life, from the familiar to us version, to very isoteric mystery versions. (Though none seemed to be about acquireing wealth or against homosexuality.) It's even commonly believed that women had a prominent role, even before the DaVinci Code, which I do not consider more than a novel.
The Talpiot tomb really freaked people out. I started reading early christian history blogs (who knew?) and was suprised to see how vitrolent and scathing these scholars are, it's like movie blogs. I was also surprised at how many scholars came to historical research with theological presumptions ie. Jesus wasn't in a tomb because he was physically resurrected. Everyone is trying to find something to disagree with and screaming aha!
I don't want this to be The Tomb to discredit christianity. If wars, gluttony and hypocrisy can't do that, a little hole in the ground certainly won't. But I don't think the historical Jesus would recognize christianity today and I wish if this tomb was real it would make us think about his message. The point wasn't that god, with super human powers was betrayed, killed, and shot up to heaven like the end of a rock show. Just believe in that guy and your in.
We can't live up to a more mortal Jesus even one day, so most don't try; hell there in. This Jesus' life was a sacrifice, all he did was give without judging. Jesus didn't do volunteer work, he ministered to people's needs all the time and is more the example because he was human. He was saying, you are like God for loving your enemies, not just your little group; because God loves Preacher Phelps as much as He loves Mother Theresa.
Well I can't believe I got all preachy! I haven't been to church for 20 years, so maybe I had to let it out, being Easter and all. I also know very loving, giving, non-judgemental christians.
Anyway check out Dr. Talbot's blog http://jesusdynasty.com/blog/ where he is trying to address some of the questions, as well as other interesting findings.
Happy Easter
