I've always had a preference for older men which hasn't changed. It became more pronounced as I grew up instead.

So instead of refining they have coarsened... when I was a horny 12-15 yo twink I would lust from anything I considered manly between my age and the 40-somethings... after twenty years of exposure to eroticism, porn and real life sex, and a working and leisure life based prominently on discrimination in perception, I am in the precise opposite direction you mention in your post.
What remains consistent is my love of manhood: whenever I like a young twink is because he is athletically shaped as a man, not because he's young and boyish, which are secondary features, and whenever I am attracted to a rotting man in his late forties is because he's hunky, firm, manly. When I am disgusted by a muscley 24 yo is because his tits are still too soft and boyish, and he can be ten or twelve years younger and have already saggy tits; he can be younger than 24 and older than 36 had have a perfectly ripe body with just two different shades to skin firmness, like having just two different shades of healthy skin color.
He can also be too pretty, or too boyish, or have too soft features without being boyish or even actually a boy anymore, or be attractive but not really handsome, handsome and not really that attractive... I would upset the guys running BCN's houses of boys because you can not pin my tastes (like most people's anyway, I guess) down to a simple concept like fair-haired, beefy, under 35 or whatever else.

Since I finally come to my senses and understood I was gay at forty-six, it has been for one man who is my age nearly and has gotten old at my side. And damn, he does taste good. He is away with his family at the moment, and I am so ready to have him back home. Absence does make the heart grow fonder. After twenty three years, I prefer him and him alone.
