Ask me anything about Starbucks Coffee Co

For the socially conscious consumer, Starbucks tries its best to achieve economic transparent relations with its coffee bean growers. I don't want to delve too much into it, but a lot of our beans would be considered "fair trade beans" had the standards not been so high. If all our beans were just fair trade beans, they'd be more expensive than they are now. This part might be outdated, but our one and only fair trade bean-- the "Cafe Estima"-- is supposed to be highlighted as the COW every other week or something. So yeah, it's partly why the beans cost so much. Someone with concrete knowledge on the C.A.F.E. practices can tell you more.

Concerning the "fair trade" policies.... Cafe Estima is the only one that actually has the fair trade label...however all of our coffee is technically "fair trade" coffee its just that somewhere along the way it goes through some process ...whether its the packaging, the transporting, or the handling at a certain point... that doesn't meet the fair trade guidlelines... which is why none of the ther ones are allowed to actually boast the fair trade logo....

Who are the most annoying customers at Starbucks who make the most absurd demands about their coffee/drinks?

I am not lying ... I had a customer...back in Florida...he was an asshole... he would flirt with every girl to the point of uncomfortablness.. he would spout off bible scriptures and he would NEVER leave a tip for this drink....

Iced quad venti 2 pump vanilla, half whole milk half breve 3 pump mocha 2 pump white mocha. Shaken then poured back into a cup without the ice and new ice put in...

He was an asshole.

Yeah, that was what I was trying to get at. XD

Does your store get the extra caramel epidemic? I hate my home store for that. ._.

I've had those wierdos... they want Caramel with a slight coffee flavour... its gross and its like diabetes in a cup

Why does every starbuck i go to taste different?

and why do the grocery store or barnes and noble starbucks taste worse than the REAL starbucks?

How come everyone who work at starbucks is gay? male

I know Starbucks are company operations (non franchised) but do they do license agreements??

Yes they do... It's referred to as licensed concepts...

for instance... In Barnes & Noble.. the coffee shop there is licensed to sell Starbucks coffee and beverages but the employees actually work for B&N not Starbucks...

I assume the same is true for Target or a grocery store??

^ Correct. There are some exceptions though. For example, Chapters bookstore has corporate stores.

is it true full time employees get stock options?

Actually...even if you work full-time hours you are still considered part-time...

However if you work a minimum of 20 hours a week you get all the benefits of being full-time... including medical, dental, and 401K

As for the stock... everyone who works there for more than a year does indeed get stock granted to them and can also purchase more stock at 1/3 the market cost.

Is it true same store sales are down due to impact issues from new stores opening??

Yes, but stores generally return to positive same-week sales after about a year of the new store being open. At least, those are my observations with my area.

Since I'm employed there, and I'm a trend follower (hehe), ask me anything about Starbucks Coffee Co!
I should have answers to most of your questions.

:]

I can probably out play you any day of the week in Starbucks trivia. I live in Seattle and I've made it a bit of a hobby to absorb Starbucks trivia, since I've been drinking their coffee for 14 years.

I'll throw you a soft ball question: Name the only 2 Starbucks stores in the country which have a La Marzocco espresso machine ... and why are those 2 stores different than every other Starbucks?? (I can answer that easily).

There's a decent Starbucks forum here though way too quiet at this stage of the game.
