1.) How many gay porn stars do you know look at their involvement in the porn industry mostly as a hobby versus those who look at this industry as a legitimate, long term career?
Very hard to say. To most it's a hobby. I won't mention names but a few of the guys you've seen on Cocksure Men work in fields you'd never believe. One is a mechanical engineer working on a next wave teflon pacemaker, one is a university biology professor. There's one who has a house cleaning business, one who's in university studying to be a drug and alcohol counsellor. A few are planning on being directors or running their own sites but the majority seem to have a "real" job.
2.) Do you really believe that it's possible for a porn star (no matter who or what they are) to somehow use the porn industry as some sort of "stepping stone" in order to become a PROFESSIONAL model, actor/actress, etc. or do you believe they are simply being a bit naive?
Model, maybe... actor or actress... I mean, a few people in the straight industry have made the jump and I would think it wouldn't be long before a few gay ones do the same. Major Mainstream success.. not that I've seen but I didn't think I'd see a black president until about a year or so ago.
3.) Has Bo Dean expressed any interest in bottoming on camera?
No.
4.) Hypothetically speaking, if ALL of the current performers on websites such as Corbin Fisher, Sean Cody Randy Blue, Jake Cruise, Cocksuremen, etc. were, in fact, gay/bi, do you believe the websites would still be as popular as they are today?
If you mean "we only used gay models instead of the guys we use" then... hard to say. I don't personally "get" the whole appeal of straight men and I don't buy the "forbidden fruit" explanation. I think it might be that some internalized homophobia might like to see gay sex "validated" by seeing straight men doing it. Or seeing a guy do it for the "first time."
If you mean "all the guys we use were actually gay" then yes. Hot men are hot men. When I worked for Fratmen I made a point of never divulging the model's orientations. I let hot men be hot men and you could decide what they were. I also don't make much of an issue about the sexual orientations of the men at Cocksure Men. Bo is capable of playing a "straight" character and just as capable of playing a gay one. He can be the straight guy seduced or the sexually aggressive gay man. Hot either way and what his REAL orientation doesn't really come into it.
5.) Jasun, it's interesting you mentioned earlier that str8 men in gay porn can get more work, yet from what I've heard and read elsewhere, it's not that unusual for men in str8 porn to perform in hundreds, if not thousands, of scenes over the course of their career.....So my question to you is, do gay porn stars ever worry about OVEREXPOSURE?
Sure. But generally, as long as a guy is popular, he'll keep getting work.
6.) Speaking of overexposed gay porn stars, whatever happened to Pat Bateman and Rusty Stevens?
Rusty is still working. I was just hanging out with Chad Manning who told me he'd just worked with Rusty. Pat is kinda busy with something else right now but I don't think it'll be too long before he's back in front of the camera again.
7.) Do you think it would be wise for porn stars to save as much of the money they earn in porn while they can? Have you ever encouraged someone to do so?
I think it's wise for ANYONE to do that. A couple years ago I was really enjoying the amount of money I was making and before long I was in a motorcycle accident which almost bankrupted me... Porn is a lot of money quick. It's not "easy," exactly, but you can make a good chunk of money in a few hours.
I will NOT mention names with this story but I did work once with a guy who was making a nice regular paycheck with porn... but living in Hollywood he got in with the D-Listers. The famous people who have more money than talent or sense... They'd spend all their time at expensive clubs, shopping at expensive stores... he hung out with them and lived their lifestyle.. but it didn't really dawn on him that to them, $1000 for a night partying was just pocket change when with HIM it was about half as much as he made in a week. His partying and late nights caught up with him... he did shoddy work, looked tired and was known for being unreliable... and he lost his steady income from porn. He was soon very broke and very bitter and blamed everyone but himself for his having to move back home to the midwest.
Sucks, but that's how it goes. And it wouldn't be any different if he'd had any other job.
