Is there competition or rivalry between porn production companies/studios? (not asking about individual performers, we know you are personal friends with a lot of the guys)

Oh GOD yes.

you gotta remember that we're in competition for the same models. We're in competition for placement on blogs, sales and covers of magazines.

I mean, I get along very well with other studio owners but there are often bruised feelings, ruffled feathers, anger and a few damaged friendships. I won't mention names but there are two people that I'm quite close with from rival studios... and I have to be careful not to mention one to the other. They used to be very food friends. They're no longer on speaking terms and this is because of a single model that left one studio and went to the other. Over two years ago.

There are three guys on our Exclusive roster who have caused a lot of very hard feelings with people I generally get along with. I'm off a lot of people's Christmas Card list now that I'm working for a studio that's growing while a bunch of big ones are shrinking.

It seems like a lot of porn is focused on niche interests, and only some overlap. For instance Sean Cody and Corbin Fisher seem to do pretty much the same thing so I expect some competition there, but other sites like for instance Active Duty do something very different and I would think, cater to a different market.

No. Nobody really cares about awards that much. Those are always fun parties but I've never really cared much about winning or not. I've won a couple of awards... lost a few... but it's always good to get the nomination and get your picture in the press as you walk the red carpet. Nobody ever remembers who won.

Well, yes and no. Dink Flamingo and I are friends and I love him to death. But if you think we wouldn't have wanted to work with some of those guys.. you're wrong.

People who watch closely know that there are a few guys who were exclusive with one site and are now exclusive with us. Don't think there weren't some very bruised feelings and strained relationships with those.

There's also a lot of crazy politics that go on behind the scenes that manifest in very odd ways. There was once an industry blog that wrote a very unflattering piece about me and my boss, including a few very personal attacks... none of it was accurate, some of it was just plain weird.

What most people reading didn't really grasp was that the whole thing was really about the perceived transition of power from the DVD studios that work with gay men and use condoms and no testing to the online studios that work with predominantly straight men with STD testing and condoms... By writing a hatchet piece about us, we were being sent a message that we'd better not follow the lead of other studios and start to blacklist gay models in lieu of the straight models who were taking their jobs at the big DVD studios.

No really... don't ever think that things you hear are what they seem.

Not much I can do, sadly. Although I should probably not toy with them. I've found that if I just ignore them, it actually makes it worse. They're just trying to get attention, positive or negative. Like a hyperactive child. If you just give them a bit of attention, they keep their freaky stalking to a minimum.

I find that when I totally ignore their attempts to get attention, they start to get more and more desperate. My phone starts to ring at odd times and people let slip hints that they know where I live or what I was doing.
