This is pretty much exactly the plot of the Star Trek TOS episode "Miri," except they didn't have a drug. They just had a multi-century childhood, after which they "went grup" and died.

In my film that was really just a "neat reveal" 3/4 through the story. The viewer wasn't really let in on why this was a planet of children until this point in the story and the story itself was more about invaders being fought by two planets in the same solar system who didn't normally associate with each other.

Essentially, the film opened with the invasion starting and a battle sequence between fighters from the sky being flown by unseen aliens being fought off by children on the ground in the snow shooting cannons into the air. On a planet that's all harsh sunlight closer to the sun, another attack is also happening and being fought in an air battle. Although both invasions are stopped, it becomes clear that the attack was always just to test the defenses of both planets and that a full-scale invasion is on it's way.

The two cultures have to come together and find a way to fight as one to beat the invaders. 3/4 the way through the movie, one of the characters from the "warm" planet tells a story from his planet's past about the last time that they had worked together. He asks the child about a figure in history and asks, since they have the same name, if he is a descendant, and the child answers back that in fact HE is the very same person who, unbeknown to him, is a bit of a folk hero on the other planet.

Considering I came up with this story when I was 11, it's pretty advanced. Had I not lived in the middle of a big white piss hole in the snow, I might have been able to be encouraged to become a screen writer or a mainstream movie maker. Sadly, I grew up in a town where any boy who wanted to do something other than play hockey was called "faggot" by most kids and when he stood up for himself, was told to sit down, be quiet and stop whining. He was, it was explained, deserving of all their scorn since he refused to be like everyone else.

But I'm not bitter.:p

As far as porn as career goes, do you feel a lot of porn stars do porn not because it's something they've aspired to do or rather something they wound up in?

Porn is a career for very few people. For most, it's extra money and fun. Most porn stars I know, especially the big ones, have very good "day jobs" that are their lives... porn is a small thing they do on the side.

Many porn stars are former fitness models or bodybuilders. I also know that adult video talent scouts often go to fitness conventions and other events to hire potential workers. Do you think a lot of men start off as fitness models first but settle for porn because they didn't reach mainstream or significant success in their former aspiration?

I honestly can't answer that. I really don't know. I guess it's a good theory but I've never been told that by anyone.

Another question I have is about models who are not out, or models who identify (or actually are) straight men. I know you've said in the past that you let the models know upfront that if they do gay porn for any high traffic site like Sean Cody Jake Cruise, etc. that it will end up being discovered by everyone they know at some point.

My question is, how does that sit with most new models? Do they already come in aware of the risks and what they're getting into or is it something they tend to reconsider?

Most come in very aware of that... some back out the day of the shoot. It's very "real" walking in the door onto the set and being ready to go. Some are hit in the gut with it all at once and bail, some are the ones who feel that as a fire in their belly... and those are the ones who you want to work with, anyway.

Can you tell us about any men that have had their lives ruined or had their porn past come back to haunt them? Not expecting you to mention who, but some details on their situation is what I'm curious about.

I mean... lives ruined? No. Changed? Yes, that's for sure. We all know the story of the two college wrestlers from Fratmen although both of them turned out just fine... if not exactly how they might have wanted to. Although I'll tell you this... 95% of what people just accept as "fact" in that story is 100% bullshit. I don't want to dredge it all up from the past again but trust me... the absurd shit people repeat as "fact" in that story is so absurd it was when I stopped giving a shit about anything that anyone said about anything. Or me.

Do straight men actually come to the gay porn industry looking for work or are most of them recruited by scouts?

Yes.

Straight men do come to the gay porn industry but most of them are recruited by scouts.

PS: why wouldn't you want kids?

Why would I?

And when would I?

I have a job that has me out of town more than half of my life. I haven't had a day off since August and my dogs don't think of me as their master anymore... that's my husband. He and I talk more on FaceTime before going to bed every night than we do in person and I feel like my home is just another hotel sometimes. When I have to think about what city I live in and yesterday I called the basement flat in Bruce Cam's house "home," I'm not sure how I could be a father. Raising a child means giving up your own life to help tend to someone else's. And I'm not able to do that nor do I want to.

Besides, I don't really like kids. They all seem to like me. And it's creepy to me. I'm very uncomfortable with having kids around me. I'm not a parental type and I never will be.

I call my sister's kids "the test tube monsters" and her newest husband "the sperm donor" and I haven't spoken to her since she had kids and started calling me "uncle Jasun" as if I'm supposed to like being called that. After explaining twice that I don't' want to be called that nor do I want to have those kids part of my life or be expected to somehow take part in their upbringing and having those wishes be openly ignored... I cut off all contact with her and told my parents not to mention their existence to me again.

It's worked out very well.

Do porn actors get a one off payment for their services, or will they receive ongoing royalty cheques?

It depends on their contract but it's VERY rare for porn stars to get a cut of royalties unless their own a stake in the company.

I know a few who did. But they were exceptions.

^ be sure to put some photos of them romping around :)

Do they rule the roost, or are they well behaved?

I mean... they're three dogs so it's a bit of a pack mentality. Max is still a puppy and having a bit of trouble with the energy sometimes... like puppies do.

But for the most part they're pretty good.

Exactly how and where do these scouts look, and exactly what do they do?

Pin a message up on a supermarket noticeboard? Send out flyers to bars and clubs? Hang around on street corners? Contact straight porn guys and ask if they want to try something else?

Surely out in the real world, away from the very homo-friendly bubble that both JUB and your own workplace provides, then these scouts are likely in some cases to be met with homphobia, anger, curses, insults, threats, and maybe even violence.

Am I wrong?

You go. lol

I privately referred to my ex-bf's sister's children as "crotch-droppings." Made him so mad. lol His mother even started asking us if we were going to adopt. Ugh. I finally told her we were "child-free" and she seemed to get it, b/c she never mentioned it again.

You might as well ask for the recipe for coke. There are no studios that will share their scouting techniques. I've signed more than my share of no disclosure agreements. So sorry but that's one I can't answer.*

What I will tell you is that every studio is different. You find different kinds of guys different ways.*

Its not as a trade secret as you make out to be.

I guess they just get to good talkers guys to ask the hot ones directly where they see the opportunity where ever they are, in the gym, in sports clubs, neighbors, shopping, ... etc. Am i correct ? :)

I'm hoping that you just don't realize how massively rude you're being, and that Jasun won't bother to respond.

I'm sure he has no idea. I didn't say "I won't talk about it because I signed a non-disclosure agreement about it but why don't you guess and I'll tell you if you're getting warmer."

Guessing an ingredient of coke or trade secret is rude ?
Geee what planet are you coming from? Jasun don't need you to defend him.

You are just what is the word .... pulling his leg or pretend to be nice to him?

Have you ever thought about starting your own porn site? It seems like you know how to run a good business and how to make it succesful so why not try to become Jake Cruise number 2?

As for scouting techniques, I'm sure they get someone who is respectful, approachable and a good talker.

I think a beer might feature as well  Well, those 'straights' need to get the cock taste from their mouths later don't they?

Jasun:

What is your favourite non-professional/non-commercial porn that you've seen and liked? Does Greg and Joey feature in your list?

Exactly how and where do these scouts look, and exactly what do they do?

Not to put words in Jasun's mouth or to answer on his behalf, but you have to remember how pervasive the entertainment industry is in Southern California. Many people throughout San Diego, Orange County, L.A., and even up to San Francisco are looking to break into "the biz," so if you're a young, attractive individual, it's not unusual to be going about your daily life and get approached by scouts, photographers, casting directors, etc. asking if you'd be interested in doing modeling, photo work, commercials, etc, for mainstream productions and...other types of entertainment. My former roommate used to get approached all the time. It's just part of the California culture.

It's not like some pervy old dude is walking up to college kids coming out of church in Alabama and saying, "hey kid, would you be interested in letting me take pictures of you getting buttfucked?"

I'm sure he has no idea. I didn't say "I won't talk about it because I signed a non-disclosure agreement about it but why don't you guess and I'll tell you if you're getting warmer."

As you see from his next comment, you're slightly too charitable.

Guessing an ingredient of coke or trade secret is rude?

No, continuing to ask about something someone has said he won't talk about is rude. Continuing to pursue a topic when he's legally bound not to answer is rude. Or don't they have NDAs where you come from?

Geee what planet are you coming from?

It's a water-rich, oxygen-nitrogen-atmosphere, temperate ("Goldilocks Zone") terrestrial planet, locally called Terra or Earth, third in orbit around a a G2V type star (yellow dwarf, main sequence), locally known as Sol. Dominant life form: insects. Dominant sentient: four-limbed cranial vertebrates called "humans." Perhaps you've heard of them.

I realize this is several parsecs (and possibly several hundred probability horizons) from where you live, but we like it.

Jasun don't need you to defend him.

Your sentiment is gauche, but your grammar shows that you are not a native of the culture Jasun and I share (he and I are culturally somewhat different, but beyond the vanishing point from where you are), so I will continue to be patient with you.

You are just what is the word .... pulling his leg or pretend to be nice to him?

Again your grammar sucks, but in this case you cannot intend anything but direct insult. However, I will tell you that the term you want is 'sucking up' ("Críostóir, you're just sucking up to Jasun"), particularly appropriate in the context of porn! I would caution you, however, against directly insulting me. It's just not wise. Actually I'm reasonably sure you will be utterly deaf to this warning, since being wise is so far from your behavior that I doubt it's even a goal for you.

Guessing an ingredient of coke or trade secret is rude ?

Yes, kind of.

I have signed agreements that I will not divulge what processes are used to scout models. In our industry, your models are 70% of what you are. Sorry but I can't talk about it.

Believe what you want to believe.
