Absolutely. That's not uncommon at all. I've never had to totally cancel a shoot because of it but there have been a few that have gone on for hours because of it.

A couple of my biggest commercial success scenes are ones that were such train wrecks that I didn't think I could get through them... but for whatever reason, we got enough really good footage that it edited together and the total was greater than the sum of it's parts.

I have a multi-faceted view of Bareback porn that just about everyone says is a copout.

I think condoms are hot. I only have sex with condoms, even with my husband. I think that bareback can be hot if your fetish is being extreme and dangerous but I've found that even when watching bareback porn, that aspect doesn't really affect me much at all.

I'm more into cock sucking so that's usually the part of the movie I watch anyway.

I used to be dead-set against bareback until I was a bit overly aggressive with my little brother about how he was barebacking. He stood up to me for one of the only times in my life. Very calmly told me that people had been telling him how to fuck for his whole life and that he wasn't about to start letting me do the same thing.

I think adults should make up their own minds and learn the risks. But I also know that young men, wether we like it or not, look to us as role models. So we do, I think, have at least a bit of responsibility to them. that doesn't mean "don't produce it" but to be very open with how safe your'e being and telling people what precautions are taken before the camera starts rolling.

I think some bareback producers are scumbags... not really being honest with performers about the risks they're taking, talking younger and more impressionable guys into it, paying them "extra" to do it. I've never worked for anyone like that.

Now that I'm working with Titan it's not anything I'll have to worry about. Titan does not do bareback and they never will.

Oh... no. I do not.

This is the thin edge of the sword. Allowing the sex-phobic "AIDS Healthcare" people bully the government into making rules like this is a very dangerous first step.

Allowing a bunch of uptight people who love to misrepresent facts and fear-monger and spread hysteria about porn and sex is not unlike how the Mormons created the right environment for Proposition 8 to pass.

It will, if it's actually made a law, lead to the entire porn industry leaving Los Angeles. Billions of dollars out of the california economy. Porn will move to Nevada or Arizona. Or Costa Rica... the exodus has already begun. So the people in Orange Country and Ventura can stop celebrating now.

Some people have said that "well, if you don't bareback, this won't change anything" except it will. They will bill me to pay for an un-needed bunch of inspectors to come and go through our studios with a fine tooth comb looking for a used condom thrown in the wrong garbage can, a viagara pill that a model brought and then forgot, a shower shot that doesn't have a plastic bag wrapped around it with "sanitized" emblazoned on it...

I'm not sticking around for that, either. If I have to I'll also leave. Don't want to but I'm not going to let the sex police come and try to run me out of business so they can stop people from fucking. Because that's what they want to do. Make no mistake, this isn't about the danger of HIV in porn, this is about making porn illegal. Just because they have "AIDS" in their name doesn't mean they're a gay-friendly or sex-positive organization. Don't forget that.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have the same backers who tell Rick Santorum that birth control should be illegal.

I agree with basically everything you said, especially the point about how younger guys or "new" gay guys use porn for educational purposes, not just for entertainment. I find a lot of the people who scream "we're all adults who know the risks and know better than to do that in real life!" are also usually well-educated in general, have been out for a while, are older, are more involved in the gay community, etc. I'm more worried about the closeted 18-year-old guy in Bumfuck, Alabama who's discovering his sexuality, doesn't know about else who's gay, and is watching gay porn online who sees all this bareback porn that seems to be gaining in popularity and thinks, oh, condoms are just optional, because he doesn't know better.

Furthermore, I don't really understand the guys who get their panties in a twist and brag about how they hate condom porn and only watch BB. I watch porn because the guys are hot, they're having passionate sex, there's an erotic set up, they're engaging in a fetish of mine, etc. The fact that they're wearing condoms doesn't even register.

Because really, if you're watching Dario Beck or Shay Michaels get plowed and the only thing you can focus on is that the top is wearing a condom, you've got bigger issues.

It's a good indication of the kind of party we'll have after wrapping a longer shoot. Incubus took us about 6 weeks to shoot and about 3 months of preproduction. It also took about a year from the time that Francois first started to come up with his ideas for it.

So it was a long process.

This wasn't really the wrap party, exactly but the wrap party on part one. Not everyone who worked on the movie was still there but the guys had been shooting the final scene in Part 1 for three days and were ready to go out and have some fun.

The celebrated by going to the Castro, stripping totally naked and walking around singing a song called "Porn Star, Baby" for the crowd that gathered in surprise to see it.

Well if that's the case, the people who are turned off by condoms in gay porn don't have the problem, it's the 18-year-old who watches porn and thinks just because a scene is done bareback it becomes optional to wear a condom when performing. The problem is that to a lot of young gay men, especially in the south, there ARE no more legitimate education sources. Abstinance-only sex education and a total scrubbing of any HIV or gay issues means that they have nowhere to turn.

For you or for the companies you have worked with, how many chances do you give before throwing in the towel and saying "NEVER AGAIN". You mentioned models whose scenes "sold well", have you had a situation where a model's scenes did really well money wise but they were just too much of a pain in the ass for you or your bosses to want to work with again?

I think your position the ridiculous law proposed for LA is intelligent and nuanced and considers its unintended (maybe) consequences.

I disagree with you profoundly about barebacking, but since this is Ask the Pornographer and not Debate the Pornographer, I'll just ask a question:

Is there actually any evidence that young gay men are barebacking as a result of watching bareback porn, keeping in mind that 'data' is not the plural of 'anecdote'? Or is this something we're just fearing might happen?
