So last weekend I put up a bunch of movies I had for sale on Craigslist. This guy wrote me and he was interested in buying a few so he came over to my apartment tonight. I waited for him outside and when he got out of the car, I gasped in my head because he was really cute. Anyway, we spent about 30 mins chatting about movies and other stuff and I thought he was really interesting. He seemed pretty engaged in our conversation.

He ended up leaving and told me to write him if I had more movies for sale. I don't really have any clue if he's gay or if he was interested in me but for some reason, I feel compelled to ask him out via text or email just to say I'd like to talk again over coffee or something. Normally, I would never do this since it is pretty crazy and I don't know the guy at all but I have a weird feeling that I should do it. Should I?

YES!!! You already know you have a common interest - those movies you sold to him. That opens a ton of doors for getting to know someone quickly, as you can probably both talk to ends about that and it'll naturally lead to other topics.

I can't really think of a more glaring green light to go ahead and interact with him more. Even if he's not gay (or bi), you two obviously had a good conversation during that first meeting. I say go for it!

I say go for it! "Hey man, wanna grab a drink some time?"

The worst he can say is no.

It is very unlike me to do something like this lol I dunno how to ask him out without coming across as creepy. We don't know each other at all except for that one meeting and I don't even know for sure if he's gay. I guess I should do it anyway since I won't see him again otherwise.

id totally ask him out if i were you.
however, i would make sure to drop some pretty clear hints that its a date, and that youre interested romantically (in the widest sense of the word). send him a text, say that you thought he was cute, ask if hed be intersted in going on a date with you. that should be clear enough.
i would not go the "interested as a friend and then perhaps later who knows" route.

I'll join the chorus. Ask him out. The answer will be yes or no and your fretting will be over. Good luck!

I think you should go for it. I'm thinking about talking to this guy I always see at Walmart. He's so cute

Text him something along the lines of what you posted here.
Not exact words.... but same feeling, emotion, and truths.
i.e.: Be yourself

It's the summer movie season now! Ask him if he'd like to go see a movie with you sometime since both of you share such a common passion in film. If he says yes, you can plan a drink, lunch, or dinner around the movie which will give you more of an opportunity to talk and get to know if he is gay or not.

The fact that he asked you to write him again is a very positive sign.

Good idea. He just asked me to write him if I had more movies to sell though. Maybe that was his way of letting me know he was interested but that's a stretch haha.

I've done that - asked guys out cold - low probability of success, but a great confidence boosting exercise even if he says no.

OK I just texted him to say I thought he seemed like a pretty cool guy and to ask if he'd like to have coffee or see a movie sometime. We'll see if he even replies lol. Super scary but it was worth a shot!

Well I never heard back from him but I'm glad I did it haha. At least I tried!

Good for you! Taking safe risks builds confidence and self-esteem.
