This process involves deliberately obstructing blood flow to your brain. It also obstructs the upper airways and stimulates the carotid sinus resulting in bradycardia and hypotension. The net result is that the brain becomes critically hypoxic and as it struggles to survive it releases chemicals it hopes will help its owner to rectify the cause of its rapidly approaching hypoxic death. Clearly millions of years of evolutionary protective mechanisms are wasted on anyone who would attempt such a ridiculously dangerous practice.

Anyone proposing a safe way of inducing hypoxic brain damage should be charged with the manslaughter of anyone who attempts it and, as inevitably occurs in many cases, dies as a result.

As you can see in the image on the right in the second from bottom row, the ligature was held by the victim in a way that was intended to slip off his arm should he fall unconcsious. Please don't even think of going there. Two months ago some friends of mine had to attend a funeral of a sixteen year old guy who died in much the same way as the pictures above reveal. It's one thing to read about it on the web, or hear about it on Dr. Phil or Opera; but it breaks your heart when you hear it happened to the kid down the street.

This is a bad idea. You can try some light choking which is very different from asphyxiation. If you do, you need to take it very slowly and make sure he is trustworthy (as far as letting you know his limits, etc.).

Don't choke him to the point that he can't breathe... you only need to apply a little pressure to create that tight feeling, without causing any breathing problems. Check in with him constantly. There is no completely safe way to perform breath play.

If he wants to choke you, don't let him until you've played with him in other ways and know you can absolutely trust him.

Don't ever play with someone who doesn't believe in safe words or signals (unless you've been playing together for a long time). If he says he doesn't, he probably won't tell you when he's had too much and he probably won't listen to your safe word.
