Actually they are one of the most respected and successful online gaming news sites around. I used to be a Gamespot loyalist, but over recent years I have come to find that IGN has been more reliable. Of course, every site is going to have a game review that you disagree with (even though you apparently haven't even played AC yet.)
Do you have hard evidence of this? And it's funny you say that, because if you look on the box of Assassin's Creed, you'll see a big endorsement from IGN which was obviously made before they officially reviewed it. And yet they gave it one of the lowest scores. This tells me that their opinion obviously can't be bought.
Frankly I didn't put much attention in figuring out your point. All I know is you must spend more time at IGN than I do to know that much about them.
