At Red Lobster, do you choose your own lobster from the water tank to be cooked?

I’ve made plans with some friends to go to this restaurant called Red Lobster. I’ve never been to that particular restaurant before and I was wondering if we choose our own live lobsters from the water tank to be cooked if we order it off the menu? I don’t want to do that.

You can always ask the waiter to choose for you. Although choosing your own, you'll probably get a bigger, chunkier piece of meat rather than a skinny old thing that the waiter chooses and charges you through the roof for.

If possible, try to find a higher end restaurant - I think you will get previously frozen lobster tail at Red Lobster - not the best way to have it.

What city are you in? In Santa Monica we have The Lobster Restaurant, although I prefer king crab legs to lobster. I tend to prefer Japanese restaurants for seafood.

BTW, lobsters that have been in tanks for a long time will have lost some weight, since they are not fed while in captivity and live off their body mass. So the quality will depend on how long they have been in the tank.

Big time major shivers on seafood. Did you hear about the monk fish (poor man's lobster) nationwide recall out of Chicago, once again, crap from China. supposedlly miked in with highly toxic Puffer Fish.

I haven't been to many Red Lobsters, but I've never seen a live lobster tank in any of them.
I can't stand Red Lobster, Olive Garden or any of the big chain restaurants.
Everything is prepared (in mass) at big food factories. Then precisely measured out and sent to regional distributors and then to individual franchises.
They have enormous advertising budgets and destroy individually owned restaurants.
I prefer eating pasta and a sauce that were prepared that day and didn't come out a a giant can and plopped in a warming tray.
They represent corporate America and will eventually have a stranglehold on us similar to the oil and phmaceutical industries.
