so I'm on the elliptical machine and I figure unlike the 80, I'll try and watch a variety of media outlets - see what they got - not assume - make a valid judgement - not a rush to judgement - crazy I know

so on CNN in a span of 15 minutes I get ..........

Wolf Blitzer - has Charlie Rangel on - it's basically a "vote for Hillary" speech. CNN teases the interview with "the only man who agrees with GWB". It's Dick Cheney of course and there's Charlie. He blasts Bush and Cheney and then proceeds to say that he wants Hillary to run against Rudy + Bernie. He then goes into a riff about Bernie (Kerik) being Rudy's friend and Rudy should not abandon his friends. All the while, Wolf is allowing this BS with no call out to Charlie. Wolf is just smiling, letting Rangel do his spiel. Good job Wolf

Then Paula Zahn does a story about "gangs in the military". This is a real big deal. How there are white supremists and other gangs in the military. Big problem. Bill Richardson comes on and they talk about the alleged mistreatment of a predominantly Hispanic batallion (55%) where they were checking them for tatoos (gang members).

Blah blah blah

CNN - one night in their shoes

Pathetic
Biased
Focus on anti admin, etc.

Have a nice day

They are alllowed to choose which news stories they will produce. I actually find myself listening to CNN Headline news more than others because they hit the highlights without all the extraneous bullshit. News needs to be the news. This all day long morning talk-news show is bullshit. Anyways rant over. The journalist have the ability now with the "entertainment" aspect of modern news to insert their personal politics and share their personal views.

That's really all that I'm looking for in the morning while I'm getting ready to head out the door, or in the evening when I'm coming in.

What really bothers me is how belittled our "news" has actually become.

It doesn't appear to matter which network, or cable channel, everything seems to be given equal footing.

Whatever Paris Hilton did or didn't do, who ever won the most points on American Idol, or got voted off of something, gets equal exposure (and often times it appears more) than what's going on in Iraq, or Washington, or locally.

:grrr:

Alright mazda, where can we get some good bbq? (*8*)

My guess, is the various hosts of shows on any all news channel have the leeway to make the news they supposedly report anything they personally like it to be. Even 360 is becoming a farce. Wolfe Bitzer was unwatchable long ago, just like Fox news is unwatchable for anything approaching real world news. These shows are there preaching to the choirs and their various agendas. They pull ratings because the statisticians working for the so called news orgs have shown that most agenda loving souls would rather watch someone they agree with than think about the problem themselves.

It's called entertainment news, because that's what it is, and just like after Wag the Dog was released, its premise, quickly entered this Admin's thinking of how it could work and my god, it does!

So if you find yourself agreeing with anything too easily, put on your thinking cap, and start asking questions. It doesn't matter if you are Republican or Democrat. The political system is broken in the US, and may never work again unless the people rise up with all those guns they've got and take it back.

Revolution Now!!!!!

Wolf Blitzer and Paula Zahn are terrible at their jobs.

But Chance, you're the one who didn't turn the channel when you saw the idiotic stories they were doing.

And what're you doing in a gym on an elliptical machine in this gorgeous weather? Tie on your sneakers and take a walk up to Lincoln Center, grab an iced latte at Starbucks before you round the corner then enjoy it by the fountain and talk to someone new. Well anyway, that's what I do. Gyms, elliptical machines, watching TV on a beautiful day -- I really don't fit in.

I like to look a the other humpy boys at the gym, myself. I don't watch much news there.

Some architecture critics have noted an Italian Fascist influence on Johnson's Lincoln Center, so maybe Chance would feel a bit of an affinity with the building.

Many good points about the news and walking. I usually only run inside on a machine when I am underwater.

More importantly to get some good BBQ go to Rendevous on 2nd street in Memphis or if you want a cheaper quicker version of dry rub you can go to Pork with and Attitude on Beale. Make sure you get a "Call a Cab" at Wet Willies while on Beale to wet your appetite and then go to Silky O'Sullivans and try to pick up the EH HMM straight guys. Finally to round out your evening head up to Pat O'Briens and have a hurricane with some Aligator bites as dessert. When you get tired of Beale street and head out, stop in to wet your whistle at "The Pumping Station" on Poplar Ave but stay in the front room, I can not be responsible for what happens to you outside in the treehouse after midnight. Let me know when your headed on your tour of the Bluff City and I will stock up my personal bar with your personal favorites.

it was the evening - and I do enjoy the elliptical - as a warm up - then onto weights - hear u about the weather - for me. that's weekends - basketball, whatever

as for the gym, love it, lots of boys - it's where I met my current bf - no complaints

Paula - i get it

Wolf - should be better

cruel Iman

terribly cruel

perhaps somewhat deserved

Were Philip Johnson and Eero Saarinen not already dead, they should be dragged from their beds and publicly caned for their work at Lincoln Center. Lincoln Center is an abomination -- it isn't architecture, it's an eyesore. (I don't blame Saarinen as much as I blame the conservative Johnson: Saarinen, after all, did Dulles, and the TWA terminal at JFK.)

Encouraging a young, impressionable man like our chance1 to see that blight is almost cruel. What next, recommending the AOL building???

Oh Jesus.

I should have known you'd give me a hard time for that!

But come on, Alfie, like a homely old friend don't you have a bit of a soft spot for Lincoln Center after all these years? Maybe it's just me and my history but it makes me happy to be there. As a child I went to Bernstein's young people's concerts there and was introduced to Opera at the Met. I know it's ugly but I've spent decades making memories there. In the 80s one of my best friends worked at ASCAP, across the street, and so many times I waited beside the fountain to meet him for lunch or an after work drink. He's dead now but every single time I sit on that fountain and look across at the ASCAP sign I can hear him laugh. Anyway, sure it's an eyesore -- but it's our eyesore.

By the way, have you seen the renditions, over by the Mitzi Newhouse, of the renovations they're going to do? I know it won't change the overall hideousness of the complex but the restaurant's kind of cool. And finally they're going to reconfigure the front steps that have always bugged me!

To each his own.

I hate gyms. Love to be outdoors. I find boys everywhere. ;)

Boys?

I prefer men.

To each his own, I s'pose. There's just something about secondary sex characteristics I find appealing.

Fair enough.

I still call us boys and girls sometimes.

But okay, you're right.
