We've had Murder Hornets. Now there are Giant Killer Snails in Florida.

Deadly parasites, shells that can puncture tires, an appetite that can destroy agriculture. Yikes.
Broward County under quarantine. Do any JUBBERs live in this area with these things?
Florida sure seems to have its share of weird of animals.

I'm waiting for Governor Der Santis to start talking about Woke Snails.

Wasn’t Christian from there? I know he had crabs once but I don’t think he has snails

A little garlic butter and lemon. Delish.

Love me some butter, lemon, and rat lungworm.

From the article: "The snails also pose a health risk to humans because they carry a parasite called rat lungworm, which can cause meningitis."

They don't look that big

What does it take to impress you?

Damned size queens.

I had never heard of the snail infestation until I saw this posting. If you read the article, the area is limited to a section of the city of Miramar, so it sounds like they're on top of it. Most people in South Florida most probably have never encountered them. The article also said that last year they had an African snail infestation in New Port Richey, north of St. Petersburg. I suspect that people must find them attractive, and tourists may bring them into the country in their suitcases illegally.

I remember that there was a story from about 1970 where an African snail infestation occurred in North Miami, if it was the same species, when it was introduced supposedly by a boy from Hawaii. I have heard nothing about them since the early 1970s, so I suspect that population was eliminated.

Unless you live in that immediate area, it's most likely that you have nothing to worry about.

Are we going to be reading about the bizarre exploits of 'Florida Snails' now?

I am still trying to cope with Florida Man.
