Everyone knows that the amazing Doctor Who TV series premiered in November 1963, with the episode, "An Unearthly Child".

But now I'm wondering, have any Doctor Who fans ever watched the sci-fi/mystery, "The Unearthly Stranger", also from 1963?
It's been decades since I last saw this movie, but the impact it made on me still gives me that "Doctor Who" awe and wonder!

The Unearthly Stranger has a unique premise, extraterrestrials have mastered the ability of interstellar travel using only the power of thought, no material space vehicles required.
And once they mentally project themselves on Earth, they are able to take human form and blend into our societies.
The aliens can also use that same power to destroy anyone who suspects the truth, about the strangers around them!

What stands out to me is the one space alien who's "humanizing process", goes a bit off, and both animals, and children, can sense that something is "unearthly" about this character.
With no special effects, this old movie is able to cast an eerie shadow over a young woman named Julie, played by Gabriella Licudi.

Here's the Network Distributing trailer:

And here's a scene with one of my favorite actors, Patrick Newell - I just love this guy!

Never got into it! Don't know the first thing about it! But I'm not about Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica or stuff like that.

For me, hindsight is golden.

Only recently did I realize that many of the people behind movies like, "The Unearthly Stranger", were also working behind the scenes for the Doctor Who TV series.
All the old movies I saw as a child are connected, in a production kind of way. It does explain why watching certain old movies give me that "Doctor Who" feeling.

Old age has given me new appreciation for actors like Patrick Newell, he made a favorable impression on me from all his numerous appearances on TV and movies.
I remember Patrick from "Danger Man/Secret Agent" and "The Avengers" - this was when actors came in all different shapes and sizes.
