Aussies hands up...

Sydney represent.

Crossing the Harbour Bridge everyday never ceases to amaze me.

Non-Aussie Intruder here...hoping you guys can answer what may be an odd and/or maybe dumb question I have:

Whenever I watch some sort of tv program or movie from Aus. the people speak using a wide and wild spectrum of distinctly Aussie words/slang. My question is, do you guys purposely and consciously leave distinctly Aussie vocabulary out of your posts or are there fewer Aussie-specific words than I'm lead to believe?

(i.e. the way Brits use Brit-speak sometimes, like shag or snog or fit or cheers, etc...)

Sorry if it's a stupid question...

I'm in Brisbane - although I wasn't born in Australia...now that The Ashes are in the bag, it's safe for me say I'm English by birth. ;)

Another response to this post.

I think most people when writing are more formal, hence the slang etc does not come through in forum posts etc. It will sometimes creep in I when I post etc and I love it when I have to educate my OS online friends in what I have written. It makes me laugh and I love that they may learn a bit of aussie from me.

Now I must go and get a drink, I'm as dry as a dead dingoes donger. :p
