Aussies

Well, obviously the Premier of WA will listen to you, particularly as you are not impressed with his decision, because he's sure as shit not listening to the thousands of people protesting his decision to do a shark cull, any more than he is listening to the voter polls that show his government is hitting record low numbers over the cull.

But, hey, he obviously didn't know he was causing you to be unimpressed.

Oh and how about you do a wee bit of research silence. The people of WA - where the shark culls are happening - are doing everything they can to derail the Premier's plan, including removing the bait from the traps to prevent the sharks coming in to the slaughter.

That has to be the most idiotic comment you've made on here for a while Pat. I'm strangely impressed.

Well the news article I read didn't mention that. If that is true then good on them. However, I don't like you sarcastic and passive aggressive tone. Are you australian? If not, I don't see why you're getting huffy.

Well Silence, frankly I don't care if you like my tone or not. It's a message board, not orgy.

I'm surprised whatever article you read didn't include the fact the WA Government's Shark Cull is one of its most unpopular moves yet. Given pretty much every article coming out of Australia is filled with shark attack statistics and the fact people are protesting on the beaches against the move. Where was the article you read that appears to have decided Australia was in support of this?

And to answer your question. I am Australia.

Unfortunately JUBbers are frequently rude to newcomers if you don't send nude pictures first.

We were nice to you when you arrived Pat, and you never posted nude pictures. And frankly I'm not mean to anyone. I'm all sunshine and light :D

I could reiterate the extract from the first post

Australians are known to be very direct and to the point.

Many Australians can have a very sarcastic manner - this can be a challenge at times to decide if they are serious or not when telling you something.

Do not take offence ... It is more of a friendly endearment than an intended insult.

Heres the article:

I've noticed that a lot of american commenters on the article are glad it's happening and seem to hate animals. Shame on the US.

The number of people who otherwise fancy themselves ecologically friendly but still say something like "ehh, sharks, I don't really care if they're gone" in the U.S. amaze me. People do not understand how critical they are in the sea ecology, and that they can kiss their seafood goodbye if the sharks go the way of the dinosaur-- nor do they generally know or care how badly damaged their populations are by human activity and commercial fishing and shark fin harvesting.

Bah :croynan: bloody Murdoch press, of course they don't mention anything that may result in the Government looking like a bunch of nasty bastards.

Never take what the Murdoch owned media say as Gospel silence. It's better to google alternative news if it's got anything to do with Australia these days.

It's a muggy hot day today.

I've closed all the house blinds to retain the cool air. We're wearing sarongs.

And here's a vid with some of my friends chinwagging away in front (and my butt in the background)

Every year we are turning into a 'Banana Republic'

This morning's newspaper says we have just seen a $1 trillion explosion in government spending over the past six years, going from a budget surplus of $20 billion, and zero federal debt, to a budget deficit of about $50 billion and $667 billion in federal debt.

We were a colony a century ago. And we are ripe for colonisation again.

Pat, I had no idea you were a Calvinist. ....

I have some Calvinist blood. But Calvinism is like Catholicism— you can get a blood transfusion of up to 6 quarts (or 5.6 liters) of blood but it is still there.

Hmm, so many expenses. Better sell the abc and give people prepared to fight and die for their country a paycut. /Abbott logic.

Course they'll never think of stopping those pay rises they've been giving themselves ever since the Rudd days

Now, how did Howard manage that? Oh that's right, privatisation, GST, mining boom etc.

How did the Rudd Government end up in the shit? Oh yeah thats right, Global Financial Crisis that destroyed the world financial market and the stimulus package which is lauded as brilliant economic policy by every country and economist in the world except for our own Government who proved at the Davos World Economic Forum they shouldn't be allowed near the books of a milk bar.
