Australian accents

It's nowhere near the Northern Hemisphere weather. It gets cold here but for me cold is like 10 - 15 degrees celcius. It's currently 35C outside my house. Hot, humid and icky. I'm lying in front of the air conditioner and playing on my new laptop.

Would it be wrong to assume you are naked as well?

mainly the thing is in Australia it always seems they get the best weather...it's always amazingly summer like isn't it?

HEY BUDDY CHECK THE NEWS. NO WATER FIRES AND HEAT

SOUTH AUSSIE IS COOKING AS WE SPEAK

I like all of those accents.... za, nz, au... all good to me. Umm. Except when the nzers call it an "earplane."

That makes my brain explode.

I was looking at my DVD collection during a commercial on television a few minutes ago and I saw my DVD of Mad Max. I was suddenly reminded that I had found and bought a version in its original Australian.

When Mad Max was first released here in North America and when it was released for sale on VHS, it was voiced over with American actors.

^ There was a report on Daily Planet today about wild camels invading Aussie towns in search of water. I knew there was a drought but I wasn't aware it was that serious.

Oh! You better watch out, you better not cry
Better not pout, I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is comin' to town

With little tin horns and little toy drums
Rooty toot toots and rummy tum tums
Santa Claus is comin' to town

One's perception of accents is all relative. I don't like to generalize about people in the US, but I've encountered many here who couldn't readily distinguish between NZ, AU and SA accents. Even more astonishing is that some mistake them for British accents. As far as sexy accents? Any sexy guy is capable of having one...

As a non Australian/New Zealander, I find it very easy to distinguish between the two accents NZ'ers have an almost English twang on certain words.

Both are sexy, rough, masculine sounding accents, perhaps thats why their sought after?

I think the problem arises in the fact that there is much more of an Australian influence on this side of the Equator than a New Zealand influence - Rolf Harris and Charlie Drake and The Seekers, television programmes like The Flying Doctors, movies such as the Mad Max series and Galipoli, etc. etc.

Sad to say that, if people in North America were asked to name someone associated with New Zealand, there would probably be only one name on the list.

Haha Remember The Flying Doctors and Prisoner Cell Block H? Those were fun!

I didn't even think of that reasoning!

Good catch!

^ I was a big fan of The Flying Doctors (I had a big crush on Doctor Tom who, I believe, is gay), but never saw Prisoner Cell Block H

Yeah Prisoner had heavy lesbian undertones, and come to think of it, overtones but I was young when it was on TV so I can't remember it all that clearly!

I would just like to point out that to those that didn't know that the New Zealand accent is even better and sexier than the Aussie one. ;)

Agreed. I can't stand our bogan aussie accent....it makes me cringe when I hear a strong one. Ugh.

Kiwi's can push my buttons just by speaking to me though, yum. :sex:

OMG I love Prisoner. I have all 692 episodes on DVD. AndI have gone through and watched them all twice. I am thinking of starting again from the begining.

Prisoner has a massive gay following. It is camp. But at the time they thought it was serious drama.

I would recommend it to anyone.

Prisoner is probably a good example of some cringing aussie accents.

I got mistaken for English a few times over in the US, and once as Scottish (that was odd).

Adzaell: your accent has nothing at all to do with your hotness. You look like a good root, no matter what the words that come out of your mouth sound like.

(but yes, Aussie accents: drool-worthily hot)
