Labor shortages have hit the food industry hard and automation is playing an ever growing role in fast food restaurants.

The Seattle startup Picnic Works is displaying its pizza production line modules that can be arranged in different order.

People at home who are too lazy to feed themselves can order a pizza by phone and when the pizza shop is too lazy to make that pizza for them a machine can now do all the work.
In the interests of still greater efficiency, I propose a pizza eating machine which will be of great benefit to those customers who are so lazy that they can't even be bothered to eat the pizza themselves.

But who will yell "YO VINNIE!" " I needa large-ahh pepperon wit xtra mutzz!" ? :(

I don't get it. Isn't that how frozen pizzas have been assembled for years?

Anyway, I'm all for cleaner food. The less human involvement the better.

What a killjoy.

I can just imagine you going on like that when a little kid asks for another coin so he can watch the jukebox fetch another 45.

;)

I like to make my own with the Trader Joe's fresh pizza doe.

Is it already shaped from a grocery store?

If it would be more economical, you could get their recipe and use your bread machine. Customize with different types of whole grain flour, even.

Cafés used to boast that their food was "untouched by human hand". Then celebrity chefs on the telly started getting all hands-on and mucky to show how much they enjoyed cooking. I once watched Jamie Oliver making bread and when he'd finished shaping the dough he kissed it before putting it in the oven. I didn't notice whether he stuck his tongue in. It would be good to combine the robotics with some acrobatics. The humans could do that juggling trick where they spin the dough up in the air.

There have been pizza vending machines for decades, usually in airports and malls and arcades and such. These new machines seem to be built specifically for pizza joints. The machines assemble them. The humans cook them.

Just like frozen pizzas.

It's like 'dinner and a show' for cheap bastards where dinner is the show.:)
