So....
Avril Lavigne released her fourth studio album sometime last week. According to Lavigne, the album was actually complete for a year, but her record label wouldn't release it because they didn't like the kind of music she made for the record.
Now, this isn't the first time RCA has turned a bitch switch on when artists on their label try to take artistic control of their work. Kelly Clarkson had the same problem when it came to releasing "My December". And although the album debuted better than her multi-platinum, Grammy winning previous effort, Breakaway... the label quickly removed all support for the record and it slipped off the charts and only went platinum once.
So I wasn't really surprised when Avril's album was delayed. Now, I used to love this chick with her debut album, Let Go. It's still one of my favorite albums ever. I like it more than Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing. I didn't really enjoy Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing like I did Let Go. I just liked a few songs from UMS and TBDT but loved everything on Let Go.
But I got curious on what Avril had recorded for this album, which her label didn't like. So, I bought the album.
And damn, I love it! I think Avril's made the right move here. She almost completely got rid of the punk-rock image she had presented to us earlier and has stuck to more laid back, easily listening songs on the albums. In fact, in my opinion, What the Hell, her current single, is by far the weakest song on the album. But the rest of the album, in my opinion, is very nice! It's such a pleasant surprise to listen to some of her songs where she isn't trying to rock out.
I don't think this album will do well even though I want it to do well. I think her label wont even allow a second single release. The album opened on the Billboard 200 at #4. And it will probably slip off the charts pretty soon if the label doesn't back her up.
I know most of you aren't into mainstream artists/music, but I wanted to post some of my favorite songs from the album here.

I hope you give the album a listen and enjoy it as much as I did.
Thanks again for reading.
