Police in Killeen near Fort Hood have arrested an AWOL soldier from Fort Campbell, Ky., who won conscientious objector status but faces a court-martial for allegedly having child pornography on his military computer.

The soldier, 21-year-old Pfc. Naser Abdo, failed to report for duty July 4.

NBC News' Pete Williams learned a solider arrested in Killeen was said to have been overheard making threatening statements to attack an Army post, possibly Ft. Hood. After that soldier's arrest, he continued to make them, according to federal law enforcement officials. Local law enforcement officials are investigating the case, including the allegations that he possessed illegal weapons.

So there's another Military guy gone postal. He sounds like areal winner and once again, this is an example of a nutcase gone wild. He seems to have no ideology behind his plot to blow up fort hood, or whatever part he had targetted, anyway.

I am glad he was stopped, and I wonder what has been happening with Vets. Obama promised a better shake for the people with PTSD who are doing crazy shit. Did that help ever come, and is it threatened right now? Are we going to have a bunch of vets with PTSD who will be cut off from their healthcare? I believe there are thousands of men now diagnosed with PTSD.

It could very well be your PDSD analogy. That is so out of control for the VA to handle. More funds need to be granted to the VA to handle this problem or they need to end the war.
I didn't post anything this am because I wanted to see more of the details and I wanted to make sure of his Muslim status.

I just saw the ABC interview with the gun shop employee who identified the soldier as suspicious and reported him to the authorities.

We need to realize that there is a strain of radical Islam that is a threat to America & our safety. There are many peace-loving Muslims in the U.S., but there are extremists too.

Just like Christians have their fundamentalists, so too, do Muslims. Except the fundamentalist, hard-line Muslims make evangelical Christians & Mormons seem like Disney characters in comparison.

We must not forget what fundamentalist Muslims do to gay men in the Middle East -- they execute them. While you wish for gay marriage, gay people in the Islamic world wish -- just to live.

I hadnt heard that part. And yes if he is such a sick criminal deviant then that could easy be his motivation. We will find out more. I just found it odd that in the first news report i heard on AM radio while driving from KC to STL was infinitely more informative than the OP. I actually found a channel that isnt blaring some right leaning wingnut.

JQ. I think we all all quite well aware of the civil rights abuses of the Iranian theological regime. Many of our left leaning folks are like Opus Dei in regards to America. They see a traitor on suicide watch and they see the best run prison in the world and scream ......... "America is no better than any other".

However based on the reality of civil abuses by other nations the more apt comparison would be America has a few misdemeanors and the other countries are guilty of capital murder. It is how these folks justify their beliefs just as you have demonstrated some very interesting behavior in justifying your beliefs.

it was a random thought, aimed at Eagle more than anyone as a retired vet who knows whether Obama's promises to the vets materialized.

If he did NOT it COULD result in me electing to vote for a protest candidate such as the green party or that internet 50 state agenda thing.

Unfortunately I am aware that MANY people doing that would hurt Obama. You have to remember that I am in Boston. This state will go for Obama, no matter what. So my vote as a non affiliated voter just affects the margin of victory in the state, and his overall popular vote count.

It wont affect the electoral college outcome.

Indeed my vote will be cast in Tennessee and my only other option is Kansas. Neither will make any actual impact on Obama's reelection BUT barring no intelligent candidate coming from the right or the middle Independent (wouldnt that be fuckin cool?)

Speaking of reelection and Obama did you all realize many traditionally democratic states lost votes and many gains votes ...not too substantial but in a close race any thing counts.

I have seen a post that breaks it down by who lost what and what they voted in the last three POTUS contest.... it is not good but will make no difference this time around me thinks.

Boehner has already threatened to use the redistricting map to punish the members of his caucus that voted against him. I think in the end the effect will be minimal.

on that list, I Think only Ohio and Florida matter, and it seems a sum zero kind of thing.

If bush could get re elected just by capitalizing on homophobia, I really believe that the pundits are underestimating how the union busting tea party gov's are going to drive the liberals to the polls, and they will dead set against anyone associated with the GOP. The tea party will feel that loss the most, IMO.

The GOP senior voters, their largest block, are also stiking out at the GOP.

The GOP and the Tea Party have lost every election they have run in to fill vacancies and recall elections since they attacked medicare Via the Ryan Budget.

Don't you find it odd that the president still polls evenly or beats every possible GOP candidate, and for all intents and purposes, the Obama campaign has done nothing but raise cash, spending little to none?

IF this debt ceiling thing took its best bite out of him, and the voters are still mostly preferring him, it ought to be a big warning sign to those pundits that want to believe Obama's goose is cooked.

I think he's being driven to do unreasonable things by Cantor, who has his eye set on the speaker spot.

It is Cantor who is underestimating the electorate and blinding the speaker.
