Wow, this is incredible. Thanks to the #metoo movement, one of my favourite Christmas songs, after 70 years of popularity, is now unacceptable because it depicts a potential rape scenario :eek:. What?!?!

Is this true? No longer acceptable? I will tune out of any local radio station who banns this song.
 
I quite like the song but have never really examined the lyrics. Having done that, it is rather inappropriate
 
this only happened on one radio station in Ohio---but it is the biggest load of PC bullshit I've heard this month---as a writer--I wish the nazi word police would go away.
 
The song has venerable long legs. It survived this long. It's not going anywhere. There won't be any disappearance of it in the heartland. Charming and nostalgic. Timeless.

I don't see the inappropriate aspect. It represents the mating ritual of heterosexual homo sapiens. She dangles the goods, leads him on, teases him and its game on, unless she says 'no', but continues to cuddle and kiss, because she loves the attention.

If you are of a victim mentality, and view women drinking with men in intimate settings as the victims of rape, then it's just the ammunition you need.

If you believe people deliberately drink to lower their inhibitions, then it is what everyone has perceived it to be for the last seven decades, romantic.

It probably doesn't carry across generations well. It's hard to imagine it was a hip hop cover with "baby" replaced with "bitch" to be real for today's underserved audiences.

It represented the 'mating ritual' in 1944. But it's 2018 now. And at that you have the reasons for the ritual wrong, but that's not much of a surprise.
 
^^Neither is Jingle Bells, Sleigh Ride or The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah; but, they all tend to be trotted out during Advent/Christmas and rarely other times of the year

I may be wrong about this but I think the majority thinking needs to step forward---we have a minority of the country supporting the scumbag in the White House and yet he has all the power---we also have a minority of social "justice" freaks bringing down people and telling us how things should be. Inmates have taken over the asylum .
