  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Baby it's cold outside..

So, 70 years ago, where would people have been exposed to this seasons greetings soft porn?

Over public radio? I have doubts.

In a family store - Woolworths - Murphy's? Doesn't seem likely.

Daytime/after school TV? I'll bet not.

My guess would be in a 'beer joint' and/or late evening TV when the kids were in bed.

Where is it getting air time these days?

Hardly seventy years ago, but it was on every Christmas TV special every year when I was a kid.

I remember someone doing a spoof on it, making it about a neglected refrigerator -- "Baby, There's Mold Inside".

Wow, this is incredible. Thanks to the #metoo movement, one of my favourite Christmas songs, after 70 years of popularity, is now unacceptable because it depicts a potential rape scenario . What?!?!

or, it you prefer...

That was fun!

Is this true? No longer acceptable? I will tune out of any local radio station who banns this song.

It's a duet. She's being coquettish. It's a cat and mouse courting.

If you are of a victim mentality, and view women drinking with men in intimate settings as the victims of rape, then it's just the ammunition you need.

If you believe people deliberately drink to lower their inhibitions, then it is what everyone has perceived it to be for the last seven decades, romantic.

It probably doesn't carry across generations well. It's hard to imagine it was a hip hop cover with "baby" replaced with "bitch" to be real for today's underserved audiences.

And it's a superb example of dialog in a song, what they call "call and response".

FWIW, this is part of what made it famous:

We can't be sure that she has reached the age of legal consent, or even that she's old enough to be drinking alcohol, as in the lyrics, it is strongly suggested that she has to get home to her parents and two siblings before they get suspicious. Not likely they'd be too concerned about a spinster still living with her parents - not much to sing about there.

But anyway, it is very clear that she lives elsewhere. This is definitely not a married couple singing to each other.

Good gracious. Twentysomethings living with their parents is not a new thing. And few love songs mention the specific age of the lovers. By these standards, you could take a random Justin Bieber song and assume it's about underage kids molesting each other. Or anything from our society's canon. Do you realize that Romeo and Juliet were both only fifteen? As was the virgin Mary, and David when he was seduced by the married lady in her bath?

/\ The story in question is from a specific era, and all about suspicion and improprieties of that time.

Get a fucking clue.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas must be racist, don't you think?

/\ Got a video of Trump singing it for us to analyze?

This is pure bullshit! The song is about a girl who wants to stay over at a guy's house, but good girls don't do that. So, they look for excuses to justify why she can anyways.

Judge Ralph Strother's decision to accept the plea deal sparked outrage from the woman who accused Jacob Walter Anderson of repeatedly raping her. The woman says she was plied with a drink of punch at the party in 2016 and became disoriented. Anderson, the woman said, led her behind a tent and assaulted her while she was gagged and choked.

This is why some songs resonate with listeners.

apparently if you are the president of a Baylor frat, you can rape a woman and get away with it by cutting a plea deal and just paying $400.

Yeah Baby.

It is very cold outside.

It was about young adults being young adults.

Get a fucking clue.

And as I posted earlier, it was a song composed and written by a man so he and his real-life wife could sing it together at private parties. It became famous after MGM bought the rights to it.

/\ Post that worthless shit 100 times more if you like.

It's certainly no surprise to me that JUB's most obvious paederasts would circle the wagons for this song.

Well then, definitely ALL men today are rapists because of a 70 year old song. How about that whore MOM who got caught kissing Santa Clause? Or the under age virgin whom birthed the celebrated diety? I don't remember her giving permission. Maybe we should just cancel Christmas to apease the egg head libtards, eh? Easter too.

^ As I noted before, you are just using this thread to vent your rage.

My "rage" comes from shear liberal stupidity and those who pander to it. The left is dumbing down the world to make themselves look like the intelligent heores we need to function as a society. Just like the volunteer fireman who goes around setting fires just ti het a full time job.

Even you aren’t so ignorant as to believe this 3-sentence bullshit. In a polarized mindset, each side believes the other is “stupid” and “dummying down” the world. So, the same charge applies to you in some quarters. As for the fireman setting fires, what a bizarre analogy that I’m afraid says more about you than your intended target.
