I said it before, this needs to stop. You are only making Bachmann out to be a victim and this is just childish. If people start vandalizing LGBT youth homes or help centers, then you wouldn't like it. As assholish as Bachmann and her husband are, this isn't the way to do it. Hurt that bitch at the voting booth. I did notice the word "barbarian" in the response, like we heard on her husbands response to the reporters.

======================================
A group of gay rights activists targeted a Minnesota clinic owned by Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann and her husband Marcus in a prank involving glitter on Thursday.

The situation that unfolded at Bachmann & Associates Inc. comes in the wake of reports on controversial therapy methods allegedly practiced at the center. The Nation recently reported that the clinic offers reparative therapy, which the publication explains treats being gay as a curable disorder.

Earlier this month, when a reporter for Iowa-based station WQAD asked Bachmann to weigh in on such practices and whether they are used at the Minnesota clinic, the conservative congresswoman declined to address the matter.

Here's an excerpt of a release issued by the activists involved in the prank at the clinic:

Today a horde of gay barbarians descended upon Michele and Marcus Bachmann’s “pray away the gay” clinic and demanded that Marcus come out and discipline them for their “deviant” behavior.
Marcus Bachmann, who conducts “reparative therapy” at the clinic intended to convert homosexuals, has said that gays are “barbarians who need to be disciplined.” The horde requested to speak directly with Bachmann and experience some “discipline” for themselves.

When Marcus was no where to be found, the barbarians glittered the empty waiting room and reception area while chanting, “You can’t pray away the gay — baby, I was born this way!”

The action was organized by the same young man who threw glitter on Newt Gingrich, starting a national trend in political protest of anti-LGBT sentiments from political candidates and campaigns.

“Michele and Marcus Bachmann think gay people are barbarians?” asked LGBT activist Nick Espinosa. “I think its clear to everyone who the real barbarians are, based on the Bachmanns’ archaic views on LGBT equality.”

Espinosa, who the Associated Press notes has also used the name Robert Erickson, posted video of the incident online. In May, he pulled a similar stunt on GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista in Minneapolis.

they dressed up in conan costumes and threw around some glitter. the title of the artlicle is actually....

Michele & Marcus Bachmann's Clinic Targeted In Glitter Prank (VIDEO)

so you knew that,m and wanted to hide the fact that the supposed vandalism was actually not destruction of private property, but really throwing glitter at people who work at a place open to the public

let me be the first to invite ms bachmann to my house to throw glitter around. While she's here I'd like to tell her a few things that have been on my mind.

"vandalized" is a bit dramatic/misleading.

But I still agree with you that this should not happen. Not because the Bachmanns don't deserve it, but because it only makes gay rights activists look bad.

what does?

a bunch of lesbians in conan drag throwing glitter?

that sounds more like a gay pride parade than a protest.

I'll offer to pay the sweep up costs. Hell, I'm feeling generous. I'll even offer to have the place mopped up.

And they did offer themselves up to be "disciplined." :p

So the cleaning staff will have a little more to vacuum up in the morning. ;)

Go Girls!

It's nothing compared to some of the suffering that his clinic have put people through, and the message to families out there that it's possible to just "pray the gay away." [-X

Good Lord Mary.

If that were vandalism I must be vandalizing my own office every morning when I walk in.

Or am I the only one who sprinkles my staff with glitter each morning?

Let's see... wasn't Newtie "assaulted" at a book-signing? I'm dead set against destruction of property or any form of bodily harm, but this is just funny. Heck, Marcus may have gotten turned on?

It doesn't help that people keep propagating this distortion. He called children barbarians, which isn't far from the truth, in the context of some children thinking they might be gay.

So he didn't call gays barbarians, but he did say that being gay can be "disciplined out" of children.

I sometimes think that being gay gets "disciplined into" some children by the abusive treatment some parents give -- parents who tend to be "evangelicals".

This is not acceptable.

I don't care if it was just glitter. In today's age of bioterrorism, it's possible for "glitter" to look like anthrax or some type of deadly inhaled powder.

He was calling gay kids barbarians, though.
i.e. Kids are (or will eventually become) barbarians if they pursue a gay lifestyle.

Not much different than calling gays barbarians, imo. Essentially he's saying that homosexuality is barbaric.

The world would be a much better place if the extent of all vandalism was just throwing glitter.

yeah

and my farts are anthrax and tacos are on the MENU TOOO-NITE!

I love these forms of nonviolent protest.

What a great way to get the message across, without doing any harm.

It's not as colorful as the pie in Anita Bryant's face, but it'll do.

Good work, Gay Barbarians! ..|

laika, I've already read Marcus's statements on the issue as well as a similar article to the one you linked me.

Yes, I'm aware that Marcus denies that he called gays barbarians. Of course he does. But him saying it's a "myth" doesn't make it a "myth."

He may have been talking about children, but it was in the context of homosexuality. For Marcus to say the statement had "nothing, nothing to do with homosexuality" is just not intellectually honest. It's clear to anyone who listened to a long enough snippet of that interview that he was talking about the ramifications of when children experience or explore homosexual desire or curiosity.

Unless of course you believe Marcus's claims that the audio was doctored.
