After fully handling the aftermath of my ex, I think I'm ready to get out in the game again. It has been a long time for me. Have the dynamics of dating changed?

glory holes and cruising are kinda outdated now  but there is the internet

A few changes in the past few years.

* The bottom now pays for dinner, but only if the top buys the condoms and lube.
* Opening conversation is no longer "I saw your top 8 on MySpace", but "I read your 'likes' on Facebook".
* You can go for two points after a touchdown.

The rest is the same.

How long has it been? My guess is "probably not."

Tell us about your story.
To make things simple. He cheated on me. Insisted I change my itinerary so that I would be in the same city for their anniversary. Basically, he was being cruel.

Where do you go on the internet to date someone. Seems like the sites are all for hooking up. I like to have fun as much as the next guy, but I also enjoy conversation and pretext. Whatever happened to getting to know a guy before getting his pants off?

I guess I should buy lube and condoms in bulk then! Just kidding. I should be more experimental with my sex life.

Oh, it's been a few years now.

OK, well... "a few years" is nebulous...

but the rules haven't changed much. Best advice is still to meet men out in the real world and find them just by being out and about, doing the things you like to do.

My husband and I are in a gay motorcycle club and a lot of the men joined as single guys and before long had partnered up with other riders. So... that's a success story right there.

It has been awhile for you, hasn't it?

These days, you just sign onto a social networking site where you get to know the guy and see him with his pants off before you even contact him.

Modern dating is much more efficient that way.

Good to know. I guess I'll just have to hit up some coffee shops when I'm in Boston. I am "shopping" for a boyfriend.

wow... things really have changed. i didnt even know there was an age of "getting to know a guy before getting his pants off" in gay history. when was that?

[/sarcasm]
There was for me. Back in the day, perhaps it was because we (my age group) was younger, we were more shy and conservative. I wouldn't put up nudes of myself. If you wanted to see, you'd get to know me well enough that I would let you unbutton my pants. I never took very long, but it was effort considering other guys may already have unbutton their pant prior to going on the date itself.

More efficient I guess... Well, it's only more efficient for me since I prefer cut guys - you can follow that thread of mine too - aside from that, I prefer to get to know a guy first before making any sort of move.

Conversation and "pretext"?

Lex
Conversation and Pretext

Conversation is easy.
Pretext is like getting to know a guy. Dining out. Holding hands, Kissing. Walking them home. Butterflies in your stomach. The whole dating game. The fun changes, once you are a couple. You have to enjoy every step of the way.

NO!!!

Do not look for a BF. That's a recipe for failure.

Just get back into life... just put yourself out there. He'll find you all on his own as long as you're not looking for him.

Well, then I'll look for guys to hang out with and do stuff with. Surely that's a good thing, right?

hint: you probably shouldn't ask them if they are cut or uncut right at start though ;)
