I have a pretty bad case of Back acne, and I was wondering if anybody knew of any cremes or lotions that I could use to ultimately get rid of it, but really anything to reduce it would be helpful or any advice.

I take a shower everyday in the morning and exfoliate it with a loofah. I have some acne on my face, but not nearly as much as on my back.

Thanks in advance. :-)

Only to get under control/relief is you need to go to a dermatologist. That will find the root of the problems and THE RIGHT medical treatment you need...

I used to get this! I cured it by using benzoyl peroxide (2.5%) everyday after showering. I would also sometimes use head & shoulders shampoo. I would just rub it over the acne and let it dry for 10-15 minutes and then wash off. simple!.....but annoying. The only problem is you might have to moisturise, as these two things, after a while, will make your skin super dry.

If you have light to moderate bacne your good over the counter treatment options are benzoyl peroxide not more than 2.5%, alpha-hydroxy AHA 10% and sulfur soaps. My bacne is not an issue anymore but when I had it, I liked to leave a thick lather of sulfur soap for 5 minutes and then wash it off. Then every night I used an AHA 10% lotion and that combination cleared my breakouts and would shrink existing pimples faster.
You want to reduce irritation, sweat and heat to control amount of breakouts. So exfoliating daily in the shower is not a good idea. For some people even wearing heavy backpacks contributes to bacne from friction and irritation on upper shoulders.

Honestly, cheap stuff like benzoil peroxide with polysporin (mixed) helps tremendously.

If you really want to clear it up and are prepared to wait a few months, this method is pretty much 100% guaranteed. Go see a dermatologist and ask about Accutane.

lol ya take accutane we were just talking about this might as well hand him a loaded gun. sorry...

peroxide or retin-a will help, oral antibiotics

Before you go to any drugs or creams... The sun is the best treatment. Get some sun on your back daily. Then try to keep the diet/nutrition clean.. and then try products.. and then the doc last if all else fails.

All mixed but handy advice.

I occasionally get it as well, and here are some good tips that I have found on the way.

Body wash with Salicylic acid (mild amount) and benzoyl peroxide (2.5%, I use 5% nightly or bi-nightly on my face to control any bad outbreaks, though any stronger or more frequent and I am asking for irritated skin).

Is pine-tar as used for skin conditions banned where you are from? It is still used here in Australia as pinetarsol (2-3% pine tar solution for skin itching from excema/chicken pox etc) however recently I found a nice artisan soap maker at a local market that makes tallow based soap with pine tar. Maybe it is just a side effect of good soap (classic tallow, no chemical additives save for the usual suspects in soap making) but I have ZERO body acne or itches after a weeks use. Plus that lovely pine tar smell :D (kinda smells like a hospital to most people though, reminds me of childhood however).

Aside from this, don't scrub your back with a towel when drying off, pat dry.

Check to make sure your clothing isn't rubbing constantly on your acne prone areas of your back

Wear clean clothes ALL the time, regardless. Especially pajamas/bedclothes.

If you sleep topless, change your sheets at LEAST every 2 days, every night is better.

The last few tips are akin to facial acne, where changing your pillowcase nightly can massively decrease the level of outbreaks you get. I have never really noticed a large difference with changing pajama tops nightly, but pillow cases yes.

From having years of skin issues - go to the dermatologist and they can tell you what to do. I know for me one of the things was to actually go and get sun on my back to naturally dry out my acne. But that was my case - everyone is different.
