Usually you hear that about Mitt Romney - he's rich, etc. - how can he relate?

The latest narrative is about Bain and the years 1999-2002

More recently than that (April 2008) then candidate Barack Obama chided Working Class Americans in a speech in SAN FRANCISCO - I imagine the narrative was perfect for that crowd - who likely felt and still feel the same way

Obama said

"And it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,"

I love the guns & religion part - it's very telling

Seeing as Obama's crack team seems to want to talk about 1983 when Mitt had his dog on the roof of the car of 1999 - 2002 when Mitt saved the SLC Olympics I thought it might be good to remember something much more recent

something that shows how difficult it must be for Barack Obama to relate to working class americans - despite his rhetoric to the contrary

I wish we had a better choice this year.I don't like Romney that much.....can't feel comfortable voting for him.But Obama is so full of himself,so disingenuous,so stuck on his own wonderfulness moments like this when he proves he's so not the "uniter"...what a self centered disgrace.
 
The Dead love to make Romney a villain - evil - rich - out of touch

and point to things so long ago to make the case

not that long ago Obama revealed himself to be just that - out of touch

as for Romney - a woman from CNN traveled with Romney during the primaries - she said it was amazing how nice, funny, personable and warm he is in person

she said that she couldn't understand how this person could "disappear" when "on stage"

at the end of the day we don't need someone who can chuckle with Jimmy Fallon or sit with the girls on The View or dance with Ellen

or shoot jumpshots in the gym and pontificate about how much game he has

we need a CEO in my opinion

being "in touch" with people means understanding what they need and focusing on making it happen - right now

that's the economy

obama's "connection" is fake and his performance (shitty) is real

What's wrong with what Obama said in your utube clip? I think that I agree with him and that his psychology is right on. Are you saying that he's right but what he's saying won't connect with "real folk?" If so, do we want someone who'll say anything to "connect?" Then Mitt's your man for that...you can't argue with Mitt, he's too busy disagreeing with himself.
 
Why don't you go out and treat yourself to something nice like ice cream? I'm afraid you're becoming positively un-hinged today and that you are dangerously close to barking at parked cars!

Maybe some cherry vanilla? When I was a kid we had a place that had been around since the 1930's and served a french vanilla version of it called "White House Cherry." Always made me happy.

is he then that person u say who will say anything to connect? which is he

the problem with what he said is that he equated middle americans with guns and religion - he's anti gun - we know that - and that's ok actually - but anti religion?

i think for anyone to presume that an entire group of people are this that or the other thing - in this case "clinging to guns and religion" is 1 - full of himself and 2 - not very empathetic and 3 - not very saavy

he had a very liberal audience and got caught preaching to the choir - he didn't know he was being recorded btw

I like the this working class story-- when the Romney's were in college together and "struggling" like so many other college kids in this country---making food at home and sewing quilted blanket's to stay warm in their small home near campus---but finally things got so "bad" that Mitt had to sell some of the stocks his father was giving him to make ends meet.:rotflmao:
 
I wonder why the President would take a considerable amount of people - hard working white working class middle american voters - and suggest to an elitist crowd that they "cling to guns and religion"

what would make someone say that?

How about when anyone presumes an entire group of people are better or worse as parents based upon their sexual orientation? Does that also count as "full of himself" "not very empathetic" and "not very saavy" too?

And should we also pander to homophobes and anti-gay bigots simply because they are also white, working class middle american voters? What's your point here? He's referring to people who use the bible as a justification for their bigotry, which is fairly obvious.

I understand the "idea" that a mother and a father provide the best environment

I think all things being equal - that's probably true

a daughter w/o a mother as role model
a son w/o a father as role model

i can't dismiss that

the reality is that two loving parents are what's important - and two loving same sex parents can do that - not better nor worse

Mitt's record on gay rights and same sex marriage is more troubling that what you point out frankly

and it's why i'm not "all in"
 
Don't understand how you can even have a toe "in" considering how Mitt panders to such a homophobic crowd. Our self professed enemies, people who hate us are the people who will vote for him, possibly because of his "no marriage, no civil rights for gays" stance. I don't understand any LGBT person voting for him, or standing up for him.
 
Boy, I'll tell ya, that Barry is one dumb son-of-a-bitch. Romney, on the other hand, will solve all of our problems!

he does indeed - it's tragic - however I don't think he'd be an activist President by any means

I just don't - he was Governor of Massachusetts - the most liberal state in the union

that's not my way of saying he's good - just that I think he will be/would be quite busy trying to get the economy going

The current economic malaise can ruin an entire generation - those getting out of college now have very little hope of doing well

It's PRIORITY 1,2,3,4,5 ....... i hope you understand

I have lots of reservations

but I'm certain that Pres. Obama is not capable of turning the economy around
 
Basically true, so let's instead vote in someone who will treat them with outright contempt.
