  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Barebacking advertisments - is this wise?

Jasun, your post on this topic is meaningless fluff. What other POV could you take on the subject and not be, or at least appear, a total hypocrite – actually look at yourself in the mirror each morning without feeling disgust?

You blame the educational system and give a great example of the guys at frat pad, but then what? “Oh well. The educational system is fucked on this issue, we might as well exploit the failing.” If people are so uneducated about HIV/AIDS then why on earth would you feel comfortable putting out more misinformation? The house is burning. Throw on water or gas?

As a favor to the gay community, can you and the other bareback porn companies please STOP with this Disney’esque’ rationalization you guys have on testing. This is 2009. People have access to the internet. Porn models have Facebook pages, MySpace pages, blogs and online escort ads. This false sense of safety that you guys put out with this "30-day 'extensive' STD testing" craziness is laughable.

Model X who gets tested on Nov 1, does a video with Randy Blue (condomed) on the 5th, then on the 10th does a scene at JC with a model (bareback), then does two scene condomed on the 13th and 16th, and then on the 26th does a scene group scene with 5 guys at Cock sure (bareback). What good does that "30-day 'extensive' STD testing" do?

Now, in that same senario throw in the fact that the other model in the bareback scene on the 10th also bareback escort or works with other highly questionable bareback sites.

The dates of filming are at the beginning of most porn clips. Porn models develop fans. Take the model’s name, google it – you get their webpages, escort ads/reviews, blogs they have or are mentioned on, lists of videos and companies they have been in/with. You can see that they bareback a lot.

Yes, it is totally fair to expect porn producers, GAY porn producers – who are more than likely gay themselves, to have a higher sense of responsibility to the gay community.

Make money whatever way you see fit…but don’t sugarcoat your profiteering off the gay community with this total bullshit. Fucking own it. You make money off barebacking and you don't give a shit. It would be so much better than having to read all that crap.
You learned some scepticism from Soil... Jasun, did you?

Do you remember the storm we had during that thread about some gay young wrestler's death in a car accident? The problem here and it was then is the teaching of people to mimic and lionize certain other people as role models and idols, instead of simply teaching them to think by themselves.

Surely a precis of Soilwork's policy would be:

"You have tested negative for HIV this time, ergo you are safe to engage in bareback sex".

Irresponsible, disingenuous claptrap.

No.

Whatever you wanna think, belamy. But even following your POV...you don't teach the misinformed with more misinformation. I don't think porn is a textbook or an educational video. But when the producers put out their bullshit justification for what they do they cross a line.
if the porn industry is not there to educate what difference does it make the "justifications" of the people marketing it?
that 30-day-testing argument is just as crappy whatever they say or whatever porn consumers do.
maybe I'm being rather lenient on Jasun because I feel old and tired when it comes to discussing certain issues concerning sex, religion or education... I'm so used and so weary of being against everyone in many other topics that when coming to discuss bareback sex I can't be more bothered to take it any more seriously than the habits of smoking, playing the Russian roulette or jackassing with extreme sports and activities... or the educational and exemplary role assigned to the Bible and certain TV shows... anything you may put on top is just icing on the cake.

first: death valley is in california.

second: looking for justification on unethical professional behavior in the gay porn industry is pointless because you've already deemed it in-ethical.

the bareback gay porn industry is only, at the absolute most, partially responsible for unsafe sex practices. but it doesn't matter how much of the blame the bareback makers deserve; because the responsibility of educating the clueless in our community falls plainly on ourselves.

treat the problem, not the symptoms.

There is a Death Valley in California. The photograph that I have captioned, is of Death Valley, Arizona:

PS I believe there is good reason to question the actual Death Valley, that I have posted. You may well be correct, to correct me.

Yours is A "Death Valley"... everybody, knows (THE) DEATH VALLEY is in California

It's not really fair to expect the porn industry to to teach young gay men things if we don't even want our schools to do the same, is it?
what a lousy rationale that is for promoting bareback sex. give us a break with a statemet as illogical at that one.[-X

i was born and raised in mohave desert. i promise you, death valley is in california.

lot of thrill seekers like to try to travel through it, but the only state gov'ts irresponsible enough to let companies provide the challenge are nevada and arizona.

I humbly accept your word - with thanks.

I find it offensive that you think that the younger JUBers are that impressionable and stupid.

I notice that the ones who seem to go on the attack the most here are the ones who stay as an[STRIKE]n[/STRIKE]onymous as possible.

Yes dear, that's because some of us have careers/personal lives that don't naturally go hand-in-hand with frequenting a gay porn forum.

*Waits for arbitary, knee-jerk from Jasun about being closeted (which I'm not), afraid (again, no) or ashamed (thrice times no).*

It's also not really fair to expect the porn industry to teach young people about preventing unplanned pregnancies. However there seems to be a lot more education about genital sex than about anal sex (whether it be a homosexual or bi male or a heterosexual or bi female) available to the young in schools.

This is an interesting topic and one I never thought of becuase I don't watch gay porn, except for man on transexual porn. And to be honest I don't understand how bareback porn is hotter then not. When I watch shemale porn I don't even really notice the condom.
I do watch a lot of str8 porn and most of it is unprotected but, just becuase I see ppl having uprotected sex wouldn't mean I would do that. I have met too many teenage mothers to do that. And in the gay community, and str8 too, shouldn't there be an awareness of the dangers of stds and just becuase you saw it wouldn't mean you should do it. I mean there are stuntmen who put there self at risk for instant death for entertainment but, just becuase you saw it doesn't mean you should imitate.

Well, I do seem to have opened up a can of worms! My original concern - and maybe here I'm just showing my age - is that judging from some of the forum posts, there are people on this site both ignorant and terribly mis-informed, or possibly just totally uninformed. Given this I still think that having advertisements for risky activities - and let's face it, barebacking is risky! - could be sending an encouraging message for such activities.

Some people still need protection from themselves, until they have gained the knowledge to make their own informed decisions.

I'll crawl back under my rock now.
