Barney Frank catches WSJ Editorial writer in a bald faced lie and then traces the life of that lie in right wing media.

It is a great example of what we all know, which is the right lives on lies, myths and distortions.

Nice going, Barney!

yep it doesn't get much more textbook than that for the right wing disinformation machine.

Have someone make up something damning to Democrats then spread that FUD as far as possible to scare and rile up as many people as you can.

Ms. Information doesn't care how she gets into office.

It doesn't matter if they lie, cheat, steal, distort, disparage, misquote, mischaracterize, or omit relevant truths, just so long as they can smile when they get elected. It's all the right-wing really has to go on.
John Fund does a grave injustice when he decides he has to create something out of thin air(and there is certainly more than enough reason based on reality alone to think Barney Frank a smug, deceptive, opportunistic left-wing phony)to attack Barney Frank and his brother in smug phoniness Chuck Schumer.

Barney Frank is no hero.Fund knowingly lied to further his ends...worth total condemnnation and contempt. But smugness and arrogance and willingness to manipulate the truth to suit ideological agendas is certainly not merely a conservative trait. It's a shame though that in order to oppose often misguided or plain wrong headed even if well intentioned "progressive" thinking, the philosophy the ends justify the means has become all too common among true believer type conservatives. The country needs a vigorous conservative or liberal leaning opposition to prevent overreach by the governing party. We need a centrist coalition that will work with either pragmatic conservatives or liberals to move forward the country's agenda.Screw the conservative or progressive agenda...we need to work together to advance the best agends for America as a whole. At least start moving in that direction.Demonization and slander is NEVER justified no matter who does it.Damn this antiquated two party system, since both parties(Republicans at a more alarming pace, give you that)only give lip service to the center and are dependent on the support of there more hard line, activist wings.

^ I agree that Barney has enough skeletons in his closet that it's pretty sad you have to make something up to attack him.

i want politicians to hit each other.
That would be more fun to watch.

There is one politician here which i hate his views when he open his mouth.
His name is Chris Pyne the Liberal party.

Complaining that an opinion writer is a liar and coward is the way Congressman Frank uses an opportunity to speak on the floor of our House of Representatives? Um, don't Democrats have a few more important things to deal with in Congress?

And just this week President Obama has been calling for a return to civility. In my opinion this isn't the way.

John Fund is a jerk, there are countless examples. But Congress' job on the floor of our House of Representatives is to take care of The People's business. Count me unimpressed.

Thats what politics is all about. Expose the lies first then move on.

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd destroyed the American economy back in 2008.

Dodd knew he could not get elected again because the American public knew the truth so he decided not to stand for re-election.

However, the poor souls of Mass. just keep on re-electing incumbents.

Not a big deal to me but I think calling out an opinion writer's lies is better suited to an appearance on the MSNBC shows. The floor of the House ought to be for the People's business. It's not like they have nothing important to do.

But whatever. Just my two cents.

TV shows don't give you the time to say what you want.

Believe me if Barney Frank has proof that John Fund told the lie he claims, Chris Matthews or Keith Olberman or Rachel Maddow would gladly give him five minutes in prime time. And certainly the daytime political shows would. And they all have bigger audiences than the House floor.

Certainly not by themselves. The Republicans did as much damage with their hands off policy regarding keeping tabs on Wall Street.Overregulation may be bad economic policy, but oversight and sensible regulatory safeguards are essential to economy. The Republicans tendency to support the "free market" which in all too many cases are the most concentrated, powerful corporate interests is appalling.Democrats though have just as dirty hands. With the Dem inmates like Dodd and Frank running the asylum in their deference and bias towards Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac,and powerful Democrats like Bill Clinton's own Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin,Lawrence Summers and Tim Geithner among others looking out for their own interests over that of the nation, the pillaging of the American economy and backstabbing of the American public was far and away a joint partisan effort.

Good riddance though to Christopher Dodd. The Democrats, especially the Obama Administration need get dealt a loss of power or significant narrowing of majority from at least one of the branches of Congress to get real regarding moving away from their attempts to creep in their left flank's agenda to regain the center and start to build towards much more realistic, progressive in the best sense(not disguised left wing Social Democracy, what today's progressive standard bearers really espouse...which is fool's gold)in being forward thinking, pragmatic not ideological policy solutions. That will bring forward a formidable, tangible Democratic majority worth supporting and defending.

This isn't restricted to the right wing conglomeration, but I will concede they're far quicker to jump on a new story and propagate it. Schumer, Feinstein and others have been caught in lies that thy have either started or passed on, but they don't have moronic babble-mouth cheerleaders to spread the dreck as widely and wildly as the right wing does.

I agree with Frank in that Fund was irresponsible in first printing this story and then not issuing a proper retraction. But this is small potatoes in the scheme of things.

Except that this is the modus operandi of right wing media. Is there one responsible and reliable conservative source for news? The entire point of conservative media outlets is to distort, lie and misrepresent the news to fit their audiences bias. Conservatives can't handle the truth!

^ Now that is a distorted opinionated statement on your part I would say. Remember Obama's words of last week. He wants "you" to return to civility :)

This has been brought to you by the Fairness Doctrine.

Can't return to someplace I have never been.

We are supposed to express opinions here, right? I'm still looking for an example of a responsible conservative news source. Any examples?

Frankly, I would love to just see Barney lose a race and go down in defeat that way. He is such a bumbling idiot. Almost as embarassing as old Nancy.
