  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

barry gibb is icky

Gawd this is going to sound awful but me and hubby said he looked like one of the Gieco Cavemen.

The bee Gees and the Gibbs were responsible for a ton of music for others as well as themselves. They should get some kind of lifetime award

I'm not going to say he looked "iky"...but I really don't think he looked very good either...kinda sloppy...especially since he was always noted as being the sexy Gibb (well...except Andy was kinda cute and had a beautiful hairy chest...but that's besides the point)

He could benefit from a stylist/makeover. His teeth did seem to not fit, his hair is thinning way too much to be that long and it looked rather straggly, his pants were way too tight (and not flattering)....maybe he's in denial that he's aging or he's stuck in his 70's image/style...but he could really improve by updating his look. A haircut, new teeth and better clothes and he wouldn't be bad.

I still appreciate his contributions to music and enjoyed his performance...nostalgic.

You mean like giant wads of cash and endless royalty checks?

Anyhow... I'm not one to say ick about too much but... seeing Barry Gibb last night wasn't easy - sort of like seeing your grandfather in a speedo.

Never been a fan of the bee gee's.

I just don't get the whole helium overdose sound that comes from them.

There's a website listing the songs written by the brothers Gibb which I looked at last week. I couldn't believe how many great songs they've written. (All I knew about was SNF and the ones with Barbra.) So he deserves his due. His looks he can't do anything about. He's just aging. But the singing on AI was awful! Some singers (Diana Ross anyone?) need to give it up at some point.

For SOME reason, this YouTube video won't post. :grrr:

But, for those interested, go to YouTube and search 'Barbra Streisand
Letting Go'

(A song written by Barry)

And tell me that isn't one of the most gorgeous melodies and heartbreaking lyrics you've ever heard.

(Personally, I can't listen to it with out a few tears....!oops! )

The Bee Gees kick way too much ass. Yes, he's not very attractive - never was. And wasn't in great voice. But give the man a hand on his way out.

I remember hearing a song they did the other day. AMAZING sound. Can't remember the name.
No, not 'Massachusetts.' But, first of all, they sound the way they do because they grew up in Australia. And they sounded the way they did on Saturday Night Fever for several reasons, one being that singers like to change things versus doing the same-old.
The point of this post is also to point out that their work from before SNF is loaded with songs fully worthy of an "Elton John."
I've been too into rock'n'roll over the years to get into them, but their song writing and arranging and performing made for one of the many peak acts of the 60's and 70's.

Icky or NOT, I too enjoyed the Bee Gee's music from the start and you have to admit they "owned" their era in music!

Man I was in love with ALL their music and loved John Travolta too! (God, I am truly telling my age, aren't I?)....

I agree with Melody about Andy, hell, I was in love with him too at one time or other...

Sorry folks; but ALL of us canNOT remain young and free of wrinkles as we grow older, so try and take it easy on us as we try to age-with-care.....OK?

Man I wish I had all their royalty payments (have you seen the mansion they own on Key Biscayne in Miami?)(*8*) (*8*)
