Basement Jaxx feat. Sam Sparro - Feelings Gone

My Turn's the next single? I would have thought Twerk and She's No Good would be beter single contenders. I like My Turn but it's very mellow so may get lost beneath the buzzing of its competitors.

(I have the album, Scars. It's great)

New single is out now, after premiering today on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show

The last we heard from Basement Jaxx, in 2011, they were scoring the South London-based sci-fi flick Attack the Block and collaborating with the 60-piece Metropole Orkest on a bombastic orchestral rework of their already maximalist back catalog. It sounds like the subsequent two years away from the studio must have helped clear their heads, because their new single finds them getting back to what they've always done best: punchy, tropical, pop-infused dance cuts with a slightly unhinged sense of fun, and hooks up to here.

"Back 2 the Wild," which they premiered today on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show, is the kind of tent-toppling Carnival anthem we haven't heard from them since 2003's Kish Kash, maybe even 2001's Rooty. "I wanna go back! Back to the wild!" runs the refrain, over whoops, congas, cowbells, kazoos, and yes, even the occasional bleat of a vuvuzela. (Don't tell Baauer, but there's also a lion growling somewhere deep in the funky underbrush.) Between the sing-songy chants and the plucky keyboards, Tom Tom Club's "Wordy Rappinghood" comes to mind, only updated in Basement Jaxx's zany, fourth-world freakout fashion.

"Back 2 the Wild" is out now on 37 Adventures via iTunes, with more singles to follow this year and, per the band's publicist, "maybe an album further down the line." If you were looking for an excuse to get the vuvuzela out of the closet, this is it.

Released on 37 Adventures on 12th April 2013.

One of the UK house scene’s godfathers make a welcome return
with a brand new track.
Basement Jaxx have long since established themselves as one of
the country’s most impressive and imaginative production teams
and ‘Back 2 The Wild’ is quintessential Jaxx – a superheavyweight
groove that’s still catchy as hell, incorporating roaring lions, tribal
horns recorded in Kenya and vocals by two Korean Seoul Sisters
Miss Emma Lee & Baby Chay, ‘Back 2 The Wild’ is a club monster
that sounds like the Tom Tom Club headlining a Hackney Wick
warehouse.

please please please come the US - 'live' they are ace!

I honestly don't get how they could do a live show at Miami's Ultra-music Fest in March and NOT do a mini tour of the States - that's a lot of people they have to schlep across the Atlantic to only do ONE, 1hr long show... :grrr:

Hello Jaxx People. We'd love you to get involved in our "Power to the People" song collaboration with the whole world.

We are looking for people to contribute by creating versions of the song in different musical styles and languages or by creating visuals or dance pieces to accompany it. We got the ball rolling this January, when I was lucky enough to record and collaborate with the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay (They have created an Orchestra out of the Rubbish dump and transformed the ugliness of wastefulness into a beautiful sound of hope).

In a few weeks we will unveil a player which enables you to mix elements from different versions and create multiple versions/interpretations. Our full "Power to the People" will appear on the "Junto" album, but we are looking to create a version incorporating all the different contributions and release a People of Planet Earth version for World Peace Day this September.

The whole project is about empowering Humanity, celebrating our connectedness, our Oneness, realising everything is linked and realising that life is precious! We want to stimulate individuals creativity and positive power to realise together we can create an amazing world.

We waste so much energy creating genres and labels, lists of what's hot and what's not, often just to exert superiority over others. This project is about understanding how everything is linked, every action we make, every environmental situation we create. Please read the lyrics and give your opinion of what they say. As Dee Dee our Basement Jaxx dancer from Brazil says "You are the Voice!" Love n Good Vibrations Felix:)
