It's a pretty awesome game, even though it's older than... well it's old now... 1999 i think. But it was the first 3D-Real Time strategy game, and is heralded as one of the best games of all time. You can pick up a copy on amazon.com for $15.

There are also 2 sequels, Homeworld: Cataclysm, a stand-alone story set in the Homeworld universe, and the official sequel, Homeworld 2 which takes place 100 years after Homeworld.

The SciFi Channel is planning a significant change to Battlestar Galactica's time slot. At the very least it will be changing times, but it will probably be changing days as well.

The SciFi channel is digging their own grave with this one.

ya know i don't know why sci fi keeps messing with the friday lineup. they seem to work well for them, then BAM they change it and shows go to hell.


i tried the demo to homeworld 1 and 2 and it looks pretty good. but i'm too excited about star trek: legacy to play them now. i'm waiting till next week.

the original series had aliens. remember count iblis? i think that was his name. he claimed to be one of the gods, but i think he was supposed to be satin. the original series had human life on other planets as well. i'd kinda like them to find a planet with humans at least (not earth) and see what happens.

definately start with homeworld (1). it tells the most important part of the story. You don't have to play homeworld: cataclysm at all, as it was just kind of an expansion(ish) stand alone story that doesn't have anything to do with the official sequal, homeworld 2. Homeworld 2 continues the story of homeworld, 100 years later. Homeworld 2 is much newer, 2003 i beleive. It's still active in the modding community and such.

If you get the first homeworld, you might even want to search around for the graphics update mod made by fans. It just updates the graphics a little, as they are dated by today's standards.

You know what, it really doesn't matter to me when it comes on I record it anyway. I rarely watch it live because I can't stand sitting through the 'godsdamned' commercials.

Actually doing that is why it's ratings are slipping, you have to watch it live in order for the program to get better ratings. If you Tivo it or record it, it doesn't count, and it's ratings go down, and the show is cancelled. So if you want to keep it on the air, WATCH THE SHOW LIVE!

OK, off topic, but how does the whole TV ratings thing work? I mean how do they know what I am watching and when. A friend of ours participated once where you fill out a little log book and mail it in, but surely (don't call me shirley) its more sophisticated than that?

I believe that's how they do it in Canada, I was mailed some booklets but haven't filled them out.

I could be wrong, but I remember reading about Nelsons boxes in the US that are given to random people, and ratings are calculated through those? Not sure.

TiVo and DVR recorded episodes are only counted if they are watched the same date that the show airs. What you can do is make a sandwich or walk the dogs and start watching the show about 10-15 minutes after it begins from the beginning. That way, you watch it a little delayed, SciFi gets the ratings it's been looking for and you don't have to avoid the message boards because someone will post a spoiler for you.
I end up watching it that way and then going to a local theater that shows it again at midnight for the fans in town.

Nielson families have journals and meters that gauge which shows they are watching. Neilson also can get data from cable and satellite companies of the shows that people are selecting to watch (as long as you are using a box to receive your channels).
