Nielson families have journals and meters that gauge which shows they are watching. Neilson also can get data from cable and satellite companies of the shows that people are selecting to watch (as long as you are using a box to receive your channels).
Thanks for explaining.

"Battlestar Galactica" will explore uncharted territory for the Sci Fi Channel when it begins the second half of its season in January: Sunday nights.

The cable network has made official the long-circulating reports that it would move its critically acclaimed series to Sundays come January. The news, announced Monday, also comes with dates and times attached: "Galactica" will make the move at 10 p.m. ET Sunday, Jan. 21, following the series premiere of the supernatural-detective drama "The Dresden Files."

"Sundays have long been considered an important night for television. [The scheduling change] is a signal to our viewers that this is destination programming and should be considered appointment viewing," says Dave Howe, general manager of the network. "It only makes sense that Sci Fi would plant its signature series there."

In the past "Battlestar Galactica" has aired as part of the channel's successful Friday block of original series. Sci Fi plans to keep that night going later in 2007 with the return of both "Stargate" series and the new show "Painkiller Jane." The network plans to produce some 210 hours of original programming for 2007, the most in its history.

"Galactica" closes the first part of its season on Friday, Dec. 15. In keeping with the Sci Fi m.o., the episode will be the first half of a two-parter.

Is Battlestar Galactica Doomed?

It is with a heavy heart that I am forced to confront the possibility that the once-great show Battlestar Galactica may be heading to fraktown. After Friday's head-clutchingly bad episode, which combined boxing scenes with barfy romantic flashbacks, my sense of foreboding has escalated into franchise panic. Will our beloved show go Star Trek:TNG season 7 on us? Or, worse, Buffy season 6? Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about. Read on for the ten signs that Battlestar Galactica is turning a dangerous corner . . .

10. Show co-creators Ron Moore and David Eick are both developing multiple other projects. Moore is working on BSG prequel show Caprica, and Eick is working on both Bionic Woman and Them.

9. Crucial subplots, such as the fate of Sharon and Helo's hybrid baby, are left dangling for more than three episodes.

8. Rather than developing characters via personal transformation, character development is charted via hair length, presence/absence of beards, and weight gain/loss.

7. The only way the writers imagine they can showcase Edward James Olmos' considerable acting talents is via long-winded speeches.

6. Cylon threesomes.

5. Too much intimacy with the mysterious Cylon enemy in their SM dungeon ship makes them seem campy rather than scary.

4. Entire episodes are clumsily devoted to single-word social issues like "torture" and "genocide."

3. Eick promises next season will bring more flashback-heavy episodes that focus on romantic entanglements and/or childhood trauma.

2. A retcon turns Adama into the cause of the Cylons' attack on the twelve colonies, thus making him both improbably important and too much of a bastard.

1. Boxing is used as a thin excuse for an episode that could have been written (better) by shippers.

No it is... er, was on tonight... sheesh no one reads my posts do they???

BSG is moving to sunday nights starting JANUARY 21st, 2007.

So did anyone see tonight's episode? Much better episode then the last few weeks i thought. And i can't beleive they killed off Kat!

I was teary eyed at the end when starbuck pinned Kat's picture up on the board. Great episode. The preview for next week looked amazing with Baltar and the Cylons being on Galactica.
