Well boys, it's semi-official. Battlestar Galactica is to be renewed for a fourth season. [story]

The SCI FI Channel will renew Battlestar Galactica for its fourth year, the Los Angeles Times is reporting. The network is expected to formally announce the pick-up on Tuesday (February 13, 2007).

At least 13 new episodes will be produced this summer for a premiere next January, the paper said.

All-new episodes of Battlestar Galactica air Sundays at 10 p.m. Eastern and Pacific on SCI FI, leading up to the March 25 season finale.

A Battlestar Galactica Direct-to-DVD movie is expected to be released in the interim, sometime this summer or fall.

Yay! I love this show. I've only seen up through season 3.0 and I can't wait to catch up on seaon 3.5. This show is amazing.

"Nothing but the rain!"

Don't you just love the show. I HATE the new time slot on Sunday night! I'm on west coast time so it's not on until 10:00 PM. I have to get up early every Monday morning for work. Since I'm doing my part and watching it live.

The ratings seem to have picked up since the Sunday night relocation.Great news about the pickup for next year, thank the gods!

Yes, the sunday night move seems to have opened up to a greater audience. It may annoy some of the younger scifi "friday" fans, but most of those people have DVRs :). The important thing is that it gets more viewers, no matter who they are. The end goal is to keep the show on the air longer ;).

I'm such a nerd. I look forward to Sunday night now just for this show. I could give a rats asshat about the Oscars.

yes.... hope this continue until they reach a good conclusion, aka defeat cylon and reach earth

Where's all my Battlestar buddies and their weekly comments about the show? I liked it, but I must admit I've missed the Cylons as of late.

We're all prepairing for the next episode, which is the LAST episode Katee Sackhoff will be in this season (yes that is confirmed). I'm thinking they're going to kill her off, only to make her one of the final five Psylons. :)

Somewhat discouraging news from the Ask Ausiello column at TV Guide:

Question: Any scoop on Battlestar Galactica?— Ananya

Ausiello: All you guys praying to the Sci Fi gods to increase the show's fourth-season episode order from 13 to 22 should be careful what you wish for. My friends over at syfyportal.com are suggesting that those nine extra episodes — should they be commissioned — would actually be used to wrap up the series. As in permanently.

No surprise. Sci fi hasn't been about quality programming for years. They only kept BSG because of all the hooplah it garnered in the media, but the ratings haven't been as great this season, even with the move to Sundays. Sci-fi is going for more cheesy stuff like Eureka (which I like, but it's sci-fi for retards), and The Dresden Files.

i wouldn't put stock in anything about the 4th season yet. it hasn't even neared being filmed. SciFi, stupid as it is, won't cancel the show AT LEAST until it sees how the opening of season 4 does in the ratings. So until then, don't get to worried about things you read on the internet, it's all PURE CONJECTURE. AS for that column in particular, they can't even get the number of episodes right. SciFi doesn't do 22 episode seasons any more, they do 20 episode seasons. No season of BSG has ever had more than 20 episodes. So if they can't even get that right, i wouldn't put much faith in it.
