Bears Bear Art I Have Done... Thoughts?

I've seen people who use original pictures put it through a certain program and then draw it. But like every artist the more you practice the better you become. This is a good example of a picture my friend showed me.

Oh my god those are fucking hot cg107. It doesn't matter if they are pictures you took from the internet. The fact that you were able to enhance them like that and give them that effect.

That's amazing. I think I like the first one the best. The others have sort of a liquid effect and the first one seems to reflect the natural aspect of bear belly *squee* the best. The reason for that is the fur. But I like all of them.

I think the reason people are nitpicking it is because when you call something "My art that I created" people want to make sure it's valid, you're own, and that you did it by yourself not using tools or using the right tools. And everyone has their own opinion of what the right tools are. Artists can be very nitpicky sometimes and a little bizzare. But I think also what it is really is photophiles or artphiles. If you've ever met or talked to an audiophile before. My god they are so nitpicky and obsessive over a certain type of audio and nothing else will meet their standards. But than again it's also because they have the knowledge and because they know what works better they feel it's the best and sometimes only way to go. Sometimes people often think those who don't invest the time in learning how to use a better program or how to do something better or "their" version of the right way is either not superior or just "wrong" in their opinion or the approach.

So it's not the bear or gay commuinity. It's just people in general. And art people can be sharks sometimes. Fuck I had an art teacher who always called me raggedy and when I worked really hard on a project she gave me a 69 because it did not meet here standards (but met the requirements and than some) I did not think it was the best because I did not understand art. Maybe that's part of the problem too. Art is different for every person. I'm done ranting sorry about that. Just diddn't want you to feel down.

I'll even consider tracing art. Those kids in school who would trace insanely detailed characters and get every detail right. While some might call that copying or plagarism that takes talent. Keep up the good work and I'd love to see some more :D

I think the problem people are having is they don't feel like you're offering anything artistic to the image other than very simple photo manipulation. If you want it to be bear ART then you need to add something artistic to it. Your computer shouldn't be doing the heavy lifting for you. You need to offer a new idea that takes us away from the original photo and make it look like the computer was merely a tool you utilized and not the actual artist.

I attached a picture of a clearly manipulated photo. This guy has definitely used a photo as the base of his art, but his imprint is all over the piece. It's his art at this point. Sure we all know that he used a computer to do it, but he's really offering something that is original and his vision and effort is definitely the final impact that the piece has on the viewer.
+50000.

Word.

Full ACK.

cg1701, I think they're cool.

I think paws and thevofl were very bitchy because they must work in the graphics field or also enjoy doing that type of work.

It would be like a professional singer going to a karaoke show and mocking someone whose friends thought was real good.
Wrong analogy:
It would be like a professional singer going to a karaoke show and mocking someone who is using autotune when singing.

Using references for a 1:1 painting from scratch isn't bad, just don't trace them. If you want to do a photo manipulation, then don't just use one built-in filter, but use the photo as "clipart" and blur/erase parts of it, retouch it here and there, add other photos for a collage, make them all blend together, add vectors and shit like spiderhead's example above.

Oh my god those are fucking hot cg107. It doesn't matter if they are pictures you took from the internet. The fact that you were able to enhance them like that and give them that effect.
Some people really make me angry with their ignorance *%%*:jab::grrr: Some would even pay for prints and still not notice that they're being fooled.

So some dude photo edited some pictures and calls it art. I've seen worse things attempted to pass as someone's art. It is kinda grimy that one would use someone ELSE's pictures and try to pass it off as their own art. Other than that though, oh well.
