Should I trim back the beard?

I've been growing a beard for months now.

The longest hairs are 6 centimetres (2.4 in), and they don't seem to be growing anymore, because the length seems to have stayed the same for the last four weeks.

I'm 31 and facial hair came late to my face (I've only been able to grow a full beard for the last couple of years, after I was 25), so there's a pretty good chance this is my ultimate length.

Some of the hairs pull out very easily without pain.

This has led me to believe I might have reached my ultimate beard length, the length after which a beard stops growing, but I'm not sure about it.

I'm a bit bored of my beard at the current length, but I was growing it as long as possible and if I cut it now, I'll have to start all over again.

Does anyone have some sound advice for me?

This is mostly about finding out if my beard will still grow, but other tips are welcome too.

Hate the beard.

Trim it or shave it off.

Looks alright to me. A bit of trimming might make it seem more natural. Wild hair is seldom attractive to me. Late bloomer or not, a beard lets you do a bit of shaping of how you will look to others. DON'T SHAVE IT OFF.

It looks messy and doesn't do anything for your face (anything positive, I mean).

If you wanted to experiment, you could start shaping and trimming until you find a length that works (read: enhances rather than detracts from your looks). You can post pictures at the various stages to see what others thing.

I suspect I'll like you much better with a clean shave though... and as long as we're on this topic, with longer hair on top :)

I'll have to find out how that works, unfortunately I don't know a barber i the land who can do it for me.

Trim it NOW!

I'm over looking like a twink.

I trim the hair so my beard looks longer.

Try thinning out the beard...with either a thinning attachment for an electric razor or buy a pair of the toothed scissors, probably have to look in a specialty store or online, maybe from Sally Beauty Supply. Anyway, I think if you thinned it, it would cut back some of the hair that is stuck in it's growth and it would grow back thicker and longer...that's my suggestion at least

The resources I read say that the cutting and thinning don't make it grow longer; I think I'll keep what I have at least until after my birtday (in about a month).
I will attempt some grooming.

Thank you all for the input I've had so far.

Can we see a full length photo of you naked, so we can judge how it balances out with your pubes?

It's not about trying to look like a twink. Think of your hair as the frame around a picture. It can enhance the picture or it can detract from it. Your choice.

Side pic please. If it's curly on the sides, make it a goatee.

Get yourself a beard trimmer. They're not expensive. I keep my beard to about 0.5 inches with one. I don't like it to get much longer but I want more than designer stubble.

Trim it and Groom it!

As you say yourself - it looks like a horrible pubic bush.

You should want to look suave and urbane, and not like some unsocialized misfit from the back country.

Better. Much better.
