Beating ********** Time Limits?

Is there any way to get around **********'s time limit between video downloads? I hate having to wait an hour or more to get the next vid!

Awwwww, man! The link to the freeware program isn't there anymore. I'll have to PM Crash to see if there is another one or if he still has the program.

Oy. Ok, that won't work if your ISP assigns you a static IP address, which the vast majority of ISP's DO. In which case the only way to get around it is to use a couple of Proxy Servers.
 
This works every time for me with Opera-:


After each download-
1. disconnect from internet.
2. -> tools -> delete private data.
3. reconnect to internet. Click your next RS link and hi-yo Silver, away.

I've done it with Firefox too, but found it best to give it a blast of CCleaner after disconnect.
 
just use different proxies to get access to thier stuff

Look, it has nothing to do with software you have on your computer, or what browser you use to access the internet. It has to do with how your ISP (internet service provider) operates their system.

Every computer, when connecting to the internet, is given an IP address (Internet Protocol Address). This is assigned to you (specifically your MAC address) by your ISP, and is completely out of your control. Some ISP's assign IP addresses dynamically, each time you connect to the internet (vis-à-vis when you reset your modem). HOWEVER, most (>75%) of ISP's assign each household a static IP address that NEVER changes. There isn't a thing in the world you can do to change it.

********** logs your IP address when you connect to them, and once you've reached their download limit, blocks you, by IP address, from downloading more in a specific time frame. If your ISP assigns IP addresses dynamically, you can reset your modem and download again, b/c you have a different IP address. However, if you are in the vast majority that has a static IP address, it doesn't matter how many times you play with your modem, you'll still get the same IP address each time.

The only way to work around this is to use a proxy server. That is to route your internet access through another computer (proxy server) somewhere else in the world. Thus the other computer is actually surfing the internet for you, using its own IP address, and then simply relaying the information to your computer.

To use a proxy server you must first find a list of acceptable open Proxy server addresses, which can be hard to come by. And then configure your internet browser to route through the proxy server.
 
My experience here in the UK is that it's more normal to get assigned a dynamic ip - this is based on using the internet at 6 different households with different isps. In this case turning the modem off and on can mean you getting assigned a different ip.
