On Topic Discussion Before you go to sleep at night...

I leave it open for temperature control, and so the cat could get in an out. Closed, depending on time of year, it would either get too hot or too cold. Also, a bit of paranoia... if closed, I couldn't hear what was going on in the rest of the house.

I go to bed early, the t.v. is still on so I close the door so I have some silence, also if I choose to jerk off it comes in handy.

nope i don't close, but when i do it's because of the lights in the house

I close mine. Keeps the cat from coming and going and coming and going all damn night. I also have a room mate so it gives me privacy when I go to bed. Otherwise I leave it cracked for my little pest to run in and out and in and out. Friggin cats.

I don't remember what I did when I lived alone, but I close it except for the last six inches. It is closed enough that most of the light doesn't come in but just enough to see if I get up and it also discourages people from coming in without knocking, but it is open enough that if something unusual was happening in the house, I would hear.

No. I can't imagine having the door shut unless houseguests are staying over. Otherwise it's my house, and I want to be able to see and hear anything going on. If anything I would have thought having the door shut would be unsettling, never knowing what's on the other side.

Mostly though all of that sounds really overly dramatic and paranoid, even compared to all the other remarks. The main reason I don't close it is because it's one more thing between me and my bed. (speaking of which, I'm off to sleep.)

PS. All the lights are off too. If I need water in the night, that's what moonlight is for, or the corner of light from a streetlamp shining through the window.

I close and lock the door. The feeling that the door is open won't let me sleep.

I have a fear of being murdered in my sleep so I always close and lock the door - even when I'm having a nap during the day.

The corridor outside our bedroom faces east, and most mornings is flooded with light. We need to close the door to keep out the early morning sun.

My partner and I have two cats, who are very well behaved for cats. However we have to figure out what to do with a Peace Lilly Plant. It is deadly to a cat and I mean deadly. |So until we can get it where they can not it is in the bedroom so the door stays closed.

I never knew this which is strange seeing that it may well be one of the most popular house plants around.

I went and "Googled" it and this is what I came up with.

No, I never shut my bedroom door or window. I find it gets too stuffy if they're closed.

Since we have kids, our door is always ajar so that we can hear what's going on elsewhere. Windows always open in the summer, I love the night sounds.

I close and lock my door. Due to a lack of privacy and the fact that I sleep naked my entire life.

My bedroom door is the last barrier preventing any intruder from reaching me; thus it is always locked.

I think that I watched to many "serial killer" programmes on TV in my younger days. As I watched the knife plunging into the husband's neck I always thought, 'if you had locked the bedroom door that wouldn't have happened'.

Yep, I close and lock the bedroom door at night
In the summer I usually open the window when I get home from work...and close it before going to bed even if its 90F/32C + in the bedroom

If I take an afternoon nap on weekends, I also close & lock the door.
