Right on the heels of the recent Oklahoma Representative who described gays as a bigger threat than terrorists and Islam

and showing that bigotry is not just a United States issue comes this little nugget of joy from Britain where we are compared to mass murderers:

During filming, he interviewed Stephen Green, director of campaign group Christian Voice, and was told his lifestyle was sinful, making him no better than American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

The comparison to Dahmer came when Watkins told Mr Green he was "so happy" with being gay.

Mr Green also told Watkins he could become straight, quoted from the Bible that being gay is "vile", and promised to pray for him.

Are we to dignify judgements from insane, religious fanatics as being worthy of the mainstream of the American people, or British people?

Is Fred Phelps typical of the American people, or of that tiny but highly vocal and media hyped pool of morons, dedicated to revealing the worst in human behaviour?

I'm so angry, I'm gonna have to go sacrifice a small child to cheer me up. Back in a mo'.

EDIT: Ooh, how neat. This was my 5,666th post!

Good question, but I see Europeans commenting on this type of thing in America all the time, generalizing about Americans.

You will have noted one particular Briton (Joe from York) commenting, in a manner calculated to generate discussion.

We should distinguish between a style that provokes debate, and those of us who realise that different cultures create different and differing understandings.

The UK and continental European experiences, are also different.

We should appreciate that the American experience is somewhat coloured by a certain lack of maturity among many American religious practitioners, to live their life beyond their prejudices.

Stephen Green is a fundamentalist fruitcake who wouldn't know Christian values if they slapped him in his stupid beard.

He is nothing more than a pointless Fred Phelps wannabe gobshite.
