My Mom always had a theory about belly-buttons and when children were born within our family, she was the ever present "God-Mother" of BB's to ensure "her" children had "innies" !!!

You know how she did it?

Well, she swore that "if tiny babies' bb/umbilical cord was bound kinda snug from the time of birth until the cord totally dried up and dropped off, then the end result would be an innie".....however, if the baby's bb was allowed to "bulge out" along with it's tiny belly which has no developed muscles yet, then the end result would be an "outie"!!

I kid you NOT..........and to date, no one in my side of the family have an outie, as a result of my Mom's teachings!!!

....I do NOT know if this theory has any medical value; but trust us that NO mother from our family will ever go against my Mom's teachings.....May Mom forever rest in peace!(*8*) (*8*) :kiss: :kiss:

Actually, everyone in my immediate family is an innie. I don't know if I ever met an outie in person.

actually.....no....

innie or outie is mostly a result of how tightly (ie: short) the cord is cut....

however....there IS a condition known as umbilical hernia....so named because of the location of the hernia itself...

now a hernia happens when deeper tissue protrudes through overlying tissues - usually through a tear in a muscle layer caused by something like a strain...

inguinal hernias occur when the inguinal canal opens and allows abdominal contents (bowel) to fall through - sometimes into the scrotum...

.....simply having an outie is not a hernia....it's just sexy and something to tickle with your tongue (hot, hot, HOT).....:wave:
