Belly button ('inner' or 'outie'?)

I also have an innie. Although, with this middle-age spread creaping up on me, I don't think you would be able to tell even if I didn't.

Innie here. D-base, yours would be hot, no matter innie or outie....

Brisyboy, please refrain from posting pics of yourself at 11 years of age! This is an adult gay website, may I remind you.

I have an innie. When I was a little kid I saw a very fat man at the neighborhood pool who had an outie. I thought it was because he was fat.
Then my little brother was born and he had an outie. I used to give him a hard time for being a "freak". I think I gave him a complex about it... He's fine with it now.

Well, I used to have an outie, but with the ravages of time and a slight increase of the size of the surrounding area, it is now an innie. :(

Sorry 'snapcat', will have to find some more current pics of myself.:-)

Oh, Yeah! THAT would be "Kewl"!! ..| Looking forward to it!! (group)

Keep smilin'!! (*8*)
Chaz ;)

(My younger brother & dad also have outies so maybe it just runs in the family).

I'm an outie. Do you think it's usually the case that your brothers etc will be outies if you have an outie. Or, I suppose, they'll be innies if you are - though that's more common? Some posters on here make me think maybe not

Are they geting more common or less common do you think?

Mine's an innie but outies are cool. I'm 5'9" but 5'0" is cool so is 6'8", point is it's the person that should make you look past anything physical, any meaningfull relationship should overlook the physical although the physical may restrict you in finding the person that you can relate to on a mental basis.

Why are there so few outies?

I am surprised it doesn't seem to run in the family :S

Brisyboy, you said your dad and little brother (presume similar age to you) have outies - do you have other brothers and sisters that don't? Cousins?

I think "innie" or "outie" is mainly the result of the technique used to cut, and tie, the embilical cord. So ... I'm betting that if you have an "innie", and your sibling has an "outie", it's because different people did the proceedure. I don't think it has anything to do with genetics/body structure.

And, yeah!, just checked, again. Still an "innie" here! :D

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz ;)

Sounds like it runs in the family Brisyboy, even though that's possibly coincidence. Maybe it is a country thing? Who knows :)

I think they are more common on boys though.

An outie can be thought of as a small version of an umbilical hernia, a condition where there is a "hole" in the abdominal muscles such that some of the contents in the abdomen protrude out. Umbilical hernias are more common in children and look like water balloons, especially when the child cries or coughs (increases intraabdominal pressure). The type of belly button is genetically determined and does not relate to how the cord was cut (many inches from where the belly button is). Outies are more common on blacks and thin people, although most have innies. I would estimate the prevalence of outies at ~5% of adults, depending on the ethnicity. E-mail me with any questions:

I have a fairly deep innie :D I like it.
I'll have to say though that I really don't have a preference and I don't I ever teased others about it (you jerks ;)

I do know a guy however that has a spiral as opposed to an innie or an outie. Got to play with it the other weekend.

So it's obviously not hereditary. OK :-)

But why do people seem to think outies are an "accident" like the cord being cut too far away or something? I guess because they are less common.

Do you think 17/18 year olds now are more likely to have outies now or would they have been more likely to 10 years ago or 20 years ago? I guess what I'm really asking is whether you think it's getting more prevalent or not. I guess it's hard to tell. A bit like being gay :D
