On-Topic Ben Carson: Being gay is a choice — just look at prison

He's not sorry for what he said in the least, only that he got called out for it.

Ding Ding, his publicist/handlers told him this was getting such bad press that he had to retract it if he wanted to keep his campaign going.

^ This. He only 'apologized' because the blowback threatened to knock him out of the race to make as much money as possible from a superpac sweepstakes before inevitably losing to an old white dude in the primaries.

Dear Ben,
It would seem logical (thank you, Mr. Spock) that if I had entered prison and had served my time, presumably I would have become straight. :rotflmao:

Oh man, I truly believe things happen for a reason. I love it.

Few years back I took a sociology class (this was before I dropped out, because as you can see educated black men aren't what they are cracked up to be.) And we had to write a book report thesis kind of.

In order to avoid cheating or plagiarism, we were each individually at random given a famous person who did extraordinary things. Like past presidents and inventors and shit. This racist ass teacher thought because I was the only black guy in the room, he gave me Ben Carson who was one of the few remarkable African American brain surgeons.

I went and saw a few youtube vids of him and understand his struggle. I grew up in the projects too, I was the Steve Urkel who was constantly picked on, but I didn't find him to be special.

I then went on google to do more research on him. I saw a little tiny article on him saying some ignorant shit about homosexuality, and I decided not to write about him. I asked the teacher for another person and his ass said no, so I dropped out of the class it was only the fourth week anyways.

I can't believe as a person as educated as he is can believe like that.

Using that fucking prison analogy which was proven to be implausible. He's been watching too many episodes of Oz. Tv isn't real.

Gays in prison are put into protective custody or solitary. I know because I been to county and state jail twice. They were already gay to begin with, or need money after being released from prison so they have sex with men. Shit.

Carson doesn't believe that gay is a choice, of course.

His statements in this regard were never intended to reflect scientific knowledge, or his training as a physician. His statement, in fact, contradicts what he knows to be fact. He made it because he needs to generate publicity and excitement among the GOP base, which does not care for facts and will not support a candidate who contradicts their prejudice with truth.

Nevertheless, Carson's statement still surprises me. Most professional people put forth a considerable effort to emphasize the advantages of their education, intelligence, and hard work - not contradict all of that by pretending to be stupid. Just look at what SNL did with Carson's idiocy:

Far from supporting his presidential ambitions, I think Carson has destroyed them with this stunt.

SNL covered this issue well. Something like Carson went into the Hospital as a neurosurgeon and came out as a idiot.

Really if Carson is correct the answer is simple co-ed jails and prisons.
