I am looking to buy a new bed. Any suggestions? I have heard people say Simmons Beautyrest is best. Others say Sealy, Verlo, or Select Comforts sleep number.

What kind of bed do you have? Do you like it? What would recommend or not recommend?

I've had a Simmons Back Care bed with the memory foam stuff for about 3 years now and I love it! I can't sleep on anything else. I had one of those waterbed matresses that looks like a normal bed before that and it was decent. It didn't have any real support though. Before that I had a really old regular waterbed and it was complete crap.

Honestly the best way to find a comfortable bed is to try them all until you find one you like. I went to 5 different stores before I found the bed I bought. To me a bed is a great purchase because it will determine a lot for you. Number one being how well you sleep at night. Number two being if it reduces pain or increases it. Beds are for rest (and sex) so you want it to be as comfortable as possible.

I rolled over in Marcade's bed once, nice Ikea cushions, cozy faux fur blankets - just what you need after you've had it up the arse!

I had always been a Simmons Beautyrest fan. That was what was on my first bed. When the mattress was replaced, it was with another Beautyrest. When Dave and I had to replace that mattress a year ago, we had gone to our City Mattress store, and they talked me into a Restonic. It was more comfortable than any of the Beautyrests or Sealy Posturpedics that we tried. So, if you can get one in your area, may I suggest that you check out Restonic.

Check out Jamison mattresses. You may have never heard of them but if you have ever stayed at a Marriott you have slept on one! They do no national advertising--instead they put all their advertising dollars into research and development!

Check out the fantasy. 7inch foam core with visco foam and talay latex. The talay latex keeps you from getting too warm plus it inhibits mold, mildew, fungus and dust mites!

Dollar for dollar the best mattresses on the market! How do I know? We sell them at the furniture store I work at and they are a product I genuinely believe in! If I did not believe in the product I would not post this here. If you want more information PM me!

Whatever mattress you end up with read the fine print!!!! I bought the most expensive Serta matteress I could aford. Six moths later, the cloth material of the cover was seperating! Serta would not cover it. As time as passed the cover keeps getting worse! I just junked the Serta, and now have a Doctors Choice Denver Mattress...very nice and comfortable! Would recommend it if they are in your area!

A couple of tips:

Try out several beds by laying on them for more than just a couple seconds.

Buy from a store that has a liberal exchange policy. At a lot of discount places, once you've bought the mattress it's yours forever. Most decent places though will allow you to try a mattress out for something like 30 days and still exchange it (often at NO additional cost) if it's not working for you. Definitely worth looking into and paying a bit more for IMHO.

Remember, more expensive does not necessarily mean better. There are a lot of specialty mattresses out there that can be expensive but still feel very uncomfortable to you individually.

We recently got a king size bed from The Sleep Better Store. It was a series 5 (Gold) bed and has been wonderful. Its a number bed so we can set each side to our own likes. We also have a 3 in feather topper on it and its like sleeping on air. Its so comfy and padded that our Maltese can lay on the bed and you cant even see her when you're laying down as well.

I worked for Art Van Furniture in Michigan for 4 years. Hands down the best bed for the money is the Temperpedic Bed. YeAH I know they have infomercials but I've slept in this bed and its incrediable.

Good advice. Lay on the mattresses and find one that fits you. If the sales people don't like the idea of you laying on the mattresses, take out your checkbook, debit or credit card, wave it under the salesman's nose and tell him some one will be selling you a mattress, it certainly won't be him and walk out the door.

Finding the bed that is right for you is a very individual decision. What works for one person will not necessarily work for another.

Mine is an individual pocketed coil mattress with natural latex, organic cotton and wool. It has no chemicals, including no chemical fire retardants and will therefore not off-gas that stuff.

Good luck with your search... :)
