Best CD Converstion Software for Mac

Okay.

For a while now I've been using Windows Media Player to rip my cd's.

Just because I think iTunes sucks with CD conversion. I've tried it a few times and tested the quality and even though the iTunes makes it take up more memory the quality is still crap as an MP3 sound file. But with WMP it works pretty good and the quality is fine. I don't like to make the sound VERY GOOD or something. I just use the normal setting. Sound quality is good for me but I also have to think of how much space it takes.

Because iTunes hasn't worked for me I've always used VMware to use WMP to convert my cd's.

I heard though that Rhapsody used to be really good and was alot better then WMP.

I think they do have Rhapsody for mac. And the one who told me this has a mac so I guess when he first got his mac he used rhapsody.

But I am wondering what other alternatives there are out there to burn a cd that have better quality then ya get with iTunes.

And that's better then WMP. I might like look into rhapsody since I really don't like to use Windows unless I have to.

But if anyone knows of good software for mac then it would be appreciated.

It's toast titanium for mac. But pretty much the same thing.

There are legitimate criticisms of iTunes for PC, but I can't understand why you wouldn't use it for Mac. Apart from the fact that it works fine, it integrates so well into other Mac OS applications, it seems to me you're limiting other functionality by using other software.

Nero is really the best. Yet there customer service for tech help has fallen to the ground. I still use them for CD conversion and to make DVD's. It's really the best and most percise to use. Better than Roxio.

Holy crap it worked.

Jav told me to do the settings for 192 instead of 128.

I compared them to WMP. I ripped a CD using iTunes MP3 quality 192 and WMP normal quality.

They are almost identical in file size. And the iTunes one is less of a pain. I don't need to use VMware anymore to use WMP. Also iTunes is better with getting track information for some reason.

I went a step further and made a playlist and took each song that I ripped from iTunes and then WMP and put them side by side on the playlist so I could listen to one after another and compare the sound.

I did it with and without headphones.

I might even go to 256 if it doesn't take up too much space. I'll try that and see how much of a difference it is. I know AAC is really good but I know that also takes up more space. And I'm kinda used to MP3.

But anyways it works. Now all I need Windows XP for is Osu!

I'm getting less reasons to use it.

Cool, glad you found a solution you're happy with!

I prefer lossless formats (I have lots of hard drive space) but I use 256K encoding for MP3s to store on my iPhone, just for space reasons. 256K is pretty damned good quality, barely distinguishable from the original, and the size difference between lower rates is not much.
